Last week's American Idol results show had not featured an elimination because judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, and Randy Jackson had never opted to use their "The Judges' Save" and prevent the elimination of a pre-Top 4 finalist who had received the lowest number of home viewer votes following a weekly performance round.
"Just being here, I've realized I can do things that I didn't even think I could do. It still blows my mind, I'm still coming to reality that I'm here in the Top 4," Amber said in a video package shown after American Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced her elimination.
"I still see myself on the radio, on TV, in movies, walking runways -- I have so much to offer and I have so much to show the world."
Over 81 million votes were cast by home viewers, according to Seacrest.
Wednesday night's performance show had featured American Idol's four remaining finalists each singing two songs -- one that is considered a recording industry standard, and another that was just released in 2013.
Amber had been been only one of two finalists to receive a standing ovation from American Idol's judges during Wednesday's performance show. Candice Glover, a 23-year-old from St. Helena Island, SC, was the second.
Kree Harrison, a 22-year-old from Nashville, TN, was the other American Idol finalist still in danger of elimination prior to Amber's ouster, however Seacrest had noted this week's results announcement was in no particular order.
In addition to Candice and Kree, Angela "Angie" Miller -- an 18-year-old from Beverly, MA who has been considered the competition's frontrunner since the finals began -- is also still in the running for American Idol's twelfth-season title.
