The United Nations Foundation says it is partnering with "American Idol" for an episode dedicated to earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
"We are proud to partner with Idol Gives Back Foundation, FOX and 'American Idol' on this special episode," Kathy Calvin, chief executive officer of the United Nations Foundation, said in a statement Wednesday.
"We are working directly with the (United nations) to help Haiti address the medium and long-term challenges of reconstruction. The (United Nations) needs our support to continue to provide food, water, shelter, medicine, security, and economic opportunities to the earthquake victims."
Calvin and Allen are to travel to Haiti Friday. During the trip, they will meet with Haitians and U.N. staff to learn how people are recovering from the earthquake, the foundation said.
"I'm looking forward to traveling to Haiti to see the (United Nations') work firsthand," Allen said.
