Magnus -- a 20-year-old apprentice glassblower from Barnstable, MA -- became the seventh finalist ousted from American Idol's ninth-season finals after she received the fewest home viewer votes following Tuesday night's live performance show that saw the Top 6 finalists sing Shania Twain songs and be mentored by the country superstar.
"The person who goes home tonight is... Siobhan Magnus," American Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced.
"Siobhan Magnus everybody. An independent spirit. Laser focus. Incredible work ethic," he added as he tried to support the quirky Magnus, who showed little emotion after the surprise announcement.
"I did my best and I hope that I was able to show them what we're all capable of," she told Seacrest.
"You were always true to yourself and very strong." Seacrest replied.
Over 33 million votes were cast following Tuesday night's performance show, according to Seacrest.
While they had felt she'd delivered a disappointing performance during last week's performance round, Idol judges Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi, and Randy Jackson had all enthusiastically praised Magnus' Tuesday night performance of Twain's "Any Man of Mine" hit.
"I loved it! I loved the whole kind of punk, country look with the boots -- the whole nine, the big notes, I loved it. I loved it!" Jackson said.
"Yeah, way to pull the Shania Twain into the station! Good way to end the show, fantastic," DeGeneres added.
"Yes! Alright, guess whose back? Siobhan!" DioGuardi said.
"You know what, I really, really liked that song, and I'm not normally kind of a fan of country music. But I thought the song was perfect," Cowell said.

Prior to Urban's elimination, Casey James, a 27-year-old from Fort Worth, TX, and Michael Lynche, a 26-year-old from Astoria, NY, were revealed to be the other members of this week's bottom three vote-getters.
Seacrest then announced Lynche was safe, leaving only James and Magnus left on stage to learn which one would be eliminated.
All four judges joined Seacrest in trying to comfort Magnus -- a judges' favorite who they had tabbed as one of the competition's early front-runners -- after she sang her exit song.
"I am going to miss you. Good luck," Cowell said as Magnus exchanged hugs with the judges.
"You did great today," DioGuardi added.
"I'll see you tomorrow on my show, alright? You're going to sing on my show tomorrow," DeGeneres said.
"Keep being yourself," Jackson told Magnus when Seacrest asked him to give her some parting advice.
"You learned how to be an artist on this show and faced all the adversity and everything. I think that you're got an amazing career in front of you. Do it."
