American Idol eliminated Timothy "Tim" Urban and determined its Top 6 ninth-season finalists during Wednesday night's live results show broadcast on Fox.

Urban -- a 20-year-old from Duncanville, TX -- became the sixth finalist sent home from American Idol's ninth-season after he received the fewest home viewer votes following Tuesday night's live performance show that saw the Top 7 finalists perform inspirational songs.
"I know this has completely changed my life and I take away so many things from it I couldn't even begin to tell you," said Urban during a video montage of his American Idol journey that followed his ouster.
"This experience has been bigger and crazier and more than I ever expected. It's meant everything to me."
Urban sang "Better Days" by Goo Goo Dolls during Tuesday night's performance episode and received mixed reviews from the judges.

"It was just kind of okay, good karaoke for me," began Randy Jackson. "You didn't do anything with it. It just kind of laid there and it sounded okay."
Fellow judge Ellen DeGeneres compared Urban to "the soup of the day" but added she "didn't like" what was on the menu this week -- a sentiment shared by Kara DioGuardi.
"Tim, you finally found your lane, you're in it. But it's kind of a new Tim from what we were used to. I think this is where you belong, but it wasn't the best execution," said DioGuardi.
"But you still got something and at times sound very commercial. But it wasn't your best performance."
Simon Cowell called the performance "a little bit of a let down."

Prior to Urban's elimination, Casey James, a 27-year-old from Fort Worth, TX, and Aaron Kelly, a 16-year-old from Sonestown, PA, were revealed to be the other members of this week's bottom three vote-getters.
While it was Urban who was eventually booted, he made it much farther than he originally thought -- as he only became a Top 24 semifinalist after original semifinalist Chris Golightly was disqualified at the beginning of the competition.
In addition to James and Kelly, Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze, Michael Lynche, and Siobhan Magnus are the other finalists still in the running for American Idol's ninth-season title.
Shania Twain will serve as next week's musical mentor, with the Top 6 finalists performing her music.
