James Durbin has landed a recording deal.

"Wind-up Records isn't a label, it's a family and I wanted to be a part of that. They are true music fans that want to see me have a long career as an artist. I couldn't have asked for more when signing a record deal," Durbin, a 22-year-old from Santa Cruz, CA, said in a statement.
Durbin is currently recording his debut album, which will be released in November, with producer Howard Benson. Benson has worked with artists including fifth-season American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry, P.O.D, My Chemical Romance, and 3 Doors Down.
The rocker became the tenth finalist sent home from American Idol's tenth season after he received the fewest home viewer votes following a May 12 performance show. His elimination determined the edition's Top 3 finalists Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart -- all of whom have signed, along with ninth-place finisher Pia Toscano, recording contracts with Idol recording partner Interscope Records.
Durbin will continue to be managed by Idol's 19 Entertainment production company and Red Light Management.
"We loved James on Idol. We thought he was the standout performer from this season. His passion for rock music made him a natural fit for Wind-up Records," Wind-up Entertainment CEO Edward Vetri said in a statement.
"James has the drive, passion, love of music and a gifted, soaring rock voice that will win rock fans over throughout."
