American Idol judge Harry Connick Jr. scolded contestant Quentin Alexander during Wednesday night's performance show after what appeared to be a misunderstanding.

Following Quentin's performance of "Are You Gonna Go My Way," which received mixed reviews from the judges, the singer commented on the bottom two during his quick interview with Idol host Ryan Seacrest.
Joey Cook and Rayvon Owen were declared the bottom-two contestants based on the home viewer votes cast after last week's show. For Rayvon, it was his third consecutive time fighting for the "Idol Fan Save."
"There's two of the best vocalists -- my best friend is sitting over there. This whole thing is wack. I'm going to shut up right now," Quentin said.
Before Quentin left the stage area, Harry wanted to give him a piece of his mind.

"I don't understand that at all," Harry said of Quentin's complaint. "I mean, Quentin, if it's that wack, then you can always go home."
Harry apparently thought Quentin was calling the reality singing competition itself "wack."
"Idol is paying a lot of money to give you this experience, and for you to say that to this hand that is feeding you right now, I think it's highly disrespectful," Harry told the young artist.
Quentin then confronted Harry and explained he didn't mean to call American Idol "wack." Instead, he was just expressing his "personal feelings" about how it "sucks" to see two people he's grown to love go home. Harry said his intentions were not made clear, and then Quentin noted he was glad he could clarify.
Although the issue seemed to get squashed as the night progressed, when Quentin later took the stage to perform "The Sound of Silence," Jennifer Lopez mentioned how it's important for him to keep his emotions under control as an artist.

During Wednesday night's broadcast, the Top 7 contestants each performed two "American Classic" songs.
Nick Fradiani had his best night yet after performing two songs perfect for his voice and style. "American Girl" prompted Jennifer to tell him he had a radio-ready voice and was "dead on" track to being everything he's capable of. Nick's performance of "Only the Good Die Young" also received a 10 out of 10 from Keith Urban because the song played to his strengths.
Tyanna Jones wowed the crowd with her "Proud Mary" performance. She was told it was "as close to perfect as possible." She stretched and lived in her vocals, according to the judges.
Clark Beckham's delivery of "Superstitious" was excellent. He was called "funky" and Harry didn't even have a single critique for him. Jennifer said everything is coming together for him now as an artist -- style, sound, performance, etc.
Jax also got raving reviews for both of her songs: "Piece Of My Heart" and "Beat It." She showed off great timing and how she can be so cool with a contagious energy. She was definitely in her element last night.

In the end, America sent Joey home after two very strong and solid performances, and Rayvon will live to see another week.
