American Idol reportedly may be switching up its line of judges and giving Adam Lambert a seat on the panel.

While Lopez reportedly "has no plans" to reprise her judging role and Tyler just isn't sure of his future plans as an E! News source said it's "all up in the air" for the Aerosmith frontman, Jackson's potential departure would apparently be a deliberate move on the part of American Idol producers.
"Randy is great, but he's part of the old Idol," the source explained. "They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look, and for that reason he may well not be part of the new line up."
However, additional E! News sources are claiming Fox will do everything in its power to keep Lopez -- who joined Idol's judging panel on a one-year $12 million contract in Season 10 and then reportedly signed a second one-year contract for up to $20 million for the eleventh season last year -- onboard for another edition.
"I don't know if they can afford Jennifer, but they have let it be known that she has a guaranteed spot if she wants it," one of the sources said. "She appeals to everyone so the big bosses are in favor of keeping her on."
The possible revamp of the Idol judging panel may result in Lambert, who finished American Idol's eighth season as the runner-up, joining the show as a judge.
"They have been talking about Adam for over a month," another source told E! News.
"He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him."
In addition, American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe may also not return to the mix for Season 12.
"As of this moment, we are still in negotiations as we are with everybody. Everything is up in the air," Lythgoe said, according to E! News. "There will be changes for sure, but nothing that stops it from what it is, which is an out and out talent show."
Fox has reportedly declined to comment on the matter.
