American Idol's Season 17 premiere date has been formally announced by ABC.

ABC revealed in May the network had renewed American Idol for the 2018-2019 season.
At the time, the network also confirmed Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie would return to the series as judges for Season 17, and Ryan Seacrest will also reprise his role as host.
Country music radio personality, Bobby Bones -- who just won Season 27 of Dancing with the Stars -- will advise the contestants all season long as the in-house mentor.
"We knew that American Idol on ABC would unleash an opportunity for singers from all walks of life to realize their dreams and that these incredible contestants would have America rooting for their success," ABC executive Channing Dungey said in a statement earlier this year.
"I am thrilled that Katy, Luke, Lionel and Ryan will be back to once again embark on this Idol journey with us to discover the next crop of inspiring talent."
According to Deadline, American Idol will air episodes on both Sunday and Monday nights once The Bachelor concludes with its Season 23 finale on Monday, March 11.
American Idol will therefore reportedly begin airing Monday-night broadcasts the following week on Monday, March 18.
The first season of ABC's American Idol revival wrapped in May 2018, with Maddie Poppe being crowned the winner and Caleb Lee Hutchinson finishing in second place.
Although American Idol is returning with a second season on ABC, the show previously aired on Fox for 15 seasons from 2002 to 2016.
