American Idol is being canceled following its 2016 edition, but former judge Ellen DeGeneres seemingly couldn't care less.

DeGeneres told Howard Stern on his radio show Tuesday that serving on Idol's judging panel for one season back in 2010 was "one of the worst decisions I've ever made," according to People.

In fact, the talk show host said "yes" when asked whether she hated the gig.

However, DeGeneres reportedly believes she had good reasons for signing on to judge American Idol in the first place.

"As a fan of the shows, it doesn't matter that I sing or I know anything about pitch or anything, I'm like everybody else at home. It's American Idol and you're watching and you're a fan. So I thought, 'I'm going to represent these people at home that have opinions and like somebody or don't,'" DeGeneres explained.

"But then I just thought, 'I can't break this person's heart. Let somebody else do that.'"

DeGeneres isn't the first former judge to bash the Fox reality singing competition. Mariah Carey, who appeared on Season 12, bad-mouthed Idol during a late May interview for Australia's Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS FM.

"It's so boring and so fake," Carey, 46, said, recalling her personal experience with the show in 2013.

"I'm sorry... when I say it's fake, I mean... you have to make up things to say about people. Half the time, the performances are good, you just [want to] be like, 'It was good.' You just feel like ending it there, like, 'It's really good.'"

Carey had also suggested producers pitted her against Nicki Minaj for entertainment purposes, insisting Idol never intended for them to have an enjoyable experience on the show.

"[It] wasn't cool," Carey noted, People reported. "It should've been about the contestants instead of being about some non-existent feud that turned into more ridiculousness."

Fox had announced just a few weeks prior to Carey's comments that it's pulling the plug on American Idol following its fifteenth -- and final -- season next year. Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. will reprise their role as judges for the franchise's last edition.
