Although her acting career may have had a disastrous start with the failure of her movie From Justin to Kelly, Kelly Clarkson, the winner of Fox's initial American Idol, will try acting again in a role more suited for her. According to the Associated Press, Kelly will appear in the second season premiere of the NBC series American Dreams in September, portraying the pre-Beatles country-pop star Brenda Lee. During her appearance, Kelly will sing one of Lee's many hits, "Sweet Nothin's."

Other musicians making guest appearances during the second season include Alicia Keys (Ruben Studdard's labelmate), who will portray Fontella Bass and sing "Rescue Me," Monica, who will portray Motown songstress Mary Wells and sing "My Guy," and the sister team of Hillary Duff ("Lizzie McGuire") and Haylie Duff, who will portray two of the Shangri-Las (a 60s group composed of two sets of sisters) and sing one of their angst-ridden hits (hopefully "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" -- but more likely "Leader of the Pack" or "I Can Never Go Home Anymore").
