Angela "Angie" Miller was eliminated from American Idol during Thursday night's live results show broadcast on Fox, deciding the twelfth season's Top 2 finale finalists.

Angie -- a 19-year-old from Beverly, MA, who has been considered the competition's frontrunner since the finals began -- was ousted from the competition after receiving the fewest number of home-viewer votes following Wednesday night's performance show.

Angie's surprising elimination set up a Kree Harrison, a 22-year-old from Nashville, TN, versus Candice Glover, a 23-year-old from St. Helena Island, SC, showdown in next week's finale.

During a conference call with reporters on Friday, Angie talked to Reality TV World about her American Idol experience.

Reality TV World: The hometown packages they aired during Wednesday night's show really seemed to focus on how much adversity Kree has seemed to overcome, and not to be disrespectful in any way, presented her background as a bit of a sob story. Do you think that unfortunately played any role in the vote, and if so, does it frustrate you in any way that, given it is a singing competition, you may have been eliminated based on something other than just talent? 

Angela "Angie" Miller: You know, I don't really know about the whole voting. I know that one week people can be ontop and another be on the bottom. I don't know if that so much swayed the voting or anything. I honestly don't really know about that, but I do know that it did not disappoint me at all.

I mean, I love both of those girls and they both deserve to be there, and I would never ever be like, "Oh, it was a sob story." No, that's her life, and she's real and she's one of the most genuine girls that I know. Honestly, I love her so much. So, yeah, I didn't even really think about that, honestly.

Reality TV World: You clearly seemed shocked by your elimination. I'm sure you don't want to come across as arrogant, but it seemed like you had been expecting to end up in the Final 2. Was that actually the case and could you talk a little bit about where all those tears were coming from?

Angela "Angie" Miller: Well every Thursday night was always shocking and was a crazy, emotional night. But I did feel confident in my performances and everything that honestly, I did. I was hoping and dreaming to be a part of that finale and I really wanted it.

So of course it was shocking, I mean, I wanted it so badly. So, it was definitely shocking but even though it's the end of American Idol, this is just the start. It's just the beginning, and now I can start planning my future. So it's exciting at the same time.

Reality TV World: A lot of viewers interpreted the judges' Wednesday night comments to be that Candice was a shoo-in for the finale and Kree and yourself would be competing for the other spot. Did you also feel that way after the show?  

Angela "Angie" Miller: Yeah, I mean, Candice killed it. She did amazing. I mean, I knew that she was going to be in the finale, like obviously. And yeah, I think it was between me and Kree, which was terrible because we're both -- I mean, she's like my best friend in the competition, so it was just like, "Oh!" It just stunk that we had to like beat each other. But I really am so proud of them for making it.

Reality TV World: Jimmy Iovine had suggested you should've played the piano for your rendition of "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" Wednesday night and you could've had "a moment" if you did. It sounds like he thinks that might've affected votes coming in for you. Do you think choosing not to play the piano for that song is kind of what did you in, like you needed that moment Jimmy had described to make it into the finale. And if you kind of see that perspective, do you have any regrets regarding that?

Angela "Angie" Miller: No, I don't think so. I don't think I needed to play piano for it. I mean, he still said that I was the favorite of that round, so I mean, it's kind of confusing. He says I was the favorite of that round but then he says, "Oh, she should've played the piano."

So I don't know. It's kind of -- I don't think it would've made that much of a difference. Plus, if I played it, I just didn't know that song well enough to play it. I probably would've screwed it up on piano. (Laughs) So, I didn't want to play it and be too concerned about the piano.

What do you think Idol is going to be missing by not having Randy Jackson there next year?

Angela "Angie" Miller: Well I mean, he's been a huge part of the show. I mean, he's been a huge part of the show, and I feel so blessed to have made it -- to have been [on the show] for a year with him -- to have been a part of his journey.

And I'm grateful that he was a part of mine. He was great on the show and has been a supporter of mine since the beginning. So, it'll definitely be weird without him though. He's the only one who's been here forever!

You repeatedly got the comment of "play the piano" from the judges. Did that get frustrating for you, that it seemed so important to them?

Angela "Angie" Miller: Yeah, I mean honestly, at first, it was upsetting because I feel like they thought I was only good when I was playing the piano. And I was like, "I promise you I can be just as good off the piano," and I had to work and prove that to them. And I feel like in the end, I did. And I'm so glad I did that because I love being off piano just as much as I love being on it.

What about watching your hometown video before your second performance Wednesday night gave you such confidence in that moment?

Angela "Angie" Miller: Well I just remember being in Beverly, Massachusetts doing that concert with thousands of people there and being on that stage and feeling so free and just like so in-the-moment. And I remember thinking, "Why don't I feel like this on the American Idol stage?" So I really feel like I just brought that feeling from that concert with me on American Idol, and I feel like it showed and it paid off.

Can you hint anything about next week's finale? We heard maybe you're doing a duet with Adam Lambert?

Angela "Angie" Miller: Well that's the great thing, is that I'm not going anywhere. I'm still here and am going to start rehearsing for the finale this week, and I'm so excited. I don't know 100% percent what's going to be going on yet. We'll see with some stuff, but I'm so excited just to sing again... And I just really can't wait.
