Arie Luyendyk Jr. is sticking up for his wife, Lauren Burnham, after she received backlash for leaving their one-week-old daughter, Alessi, at home to go out for lunch.

Lauren's Instagram post was a photo in which she was posing and smiling with her sister, Heather Burnham, in front of a cactus and sun mural. Lauren captioned the image, "First time out of the house without Alessi and I only cried one time. I'd say it's a win."
Arie insisted he had actually persuaded Lauren to take a brief break from her duties as a new mom.
"It was my idea because she has been working so hard to keep up and quite frankly I commend her for 1. Being an incredible mom and getting the breast-feeding down enough to make sure she had enough while she was at lunch. (Moms know that breast-feeding can be difficult) and 2. So much of being a good parent is making sure you take care of yourself," Arie continued in defense of his wife.
"She wanted a healthy meal with her sister who is in town. I get so frustrated at the comments because she is such a kind soul and takes these comments to heart. Be kind people!... You're doing great momma."
Lauren earned a lot of support from Bachelor Nation, including The Bachelor's Bekah Martinez and former The Bachelorette star Desiree Siegfried, but others bashed the mom of one.
"Wow you left her faster than anyone I know," one person commented on Lauren's post. "Must [have] been for a good occasion."

Arie and Lauren welcomed their first child together on May 29.
"We have a healthy, BEAUTIFUL baby girl 6lbs, 13oz 20cm long," Arie shared on Instagram. "Mommy and baby are doing great, we are so incredibly happy."
Lauren added at the time, "She is sweet, calm and @ariejr and I could not be more in love with her."

Arie met Lauren on The Bachelor's 22nd season but chose Becca Kufrin and proposed marriage to her instead during the Final Rose Ceremony. (Lauren finished as the runner-up).
Weeks later, Arie decided to dump Becca because he claimed he was still in love with Lauren, and so he begged Lauren for a second chance.
After Lauren decided to take Arie back, the real estate agent and pro racing driver proposed marriage on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose in March 2018.
The couple then moved into their first home together in Phoenix, AZ, in April of that year.
The pair announced they were expecting Baby No. 1 in November 2018 and revealed two months later they had a baby girl on the way.

Arie and Lauren got married at Haiku Mill in Maui, Hawaii in January 2019 and later enjoyed a babymoon in Bermuda. Arie was also by Lauren's side when she celebrated her baby shower in April.
