The 28-year-old twins were to move on to the second level of "American Idol" competition in Los Angeles, but were "uninvited" when their legal troubles came to light, their attorney, Maurice Bennett, told MTV.com.

"It was a very amicable breakup," Bennett said. "The guys understood why. It's amazing how these things work."

The brothers were charged with allegedly using false identification to purchase a car last summer. They were released from jail Sunday and Bennett said he had a meeting set up with prosecutors this week to discuss the charges.

The brothers sang on Atlanta radio station WVEE-FM Monday and were reportedly offered a recording deal soon after by Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label, MTV.com said.
