British music executive and "Australian Idol" judge Jay Dee Springbett has been found dead in his Sydney apartment, police said. He was 36.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted unnamed police sources as saying Springbett's death is not suspicious. His body was discovered Thursday by paramedics called to the scene by friends concerned they couldn't get in touch with him.

A Sony Music executive for more than six years, Springbett joined "Australian Idol" in its seventh and final season in 2009, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

"Jay Dee was so very enthusiastic and passionate about his family, his music projects and his plans for the future. [He] was a great friend and larger-than-life charismatic character who will be missed enormously," Sony Music Entertainment Australian and New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Denis Handlin said in a statement issued to the entertainment industry trade newspaper.
