"There's no way to sugarcoat it. My heart's in Dallas. I wanted to see what was here. An opportunity was presented to me and I took it. And yeah, it was selfish. Coming here was a mistake," Ben said after he departed.
In addition, Dylan Petitt, a 26-year-old from Boston, MA, who appeared on Andi Dorfman's The Bachelorette edition, was eliminated from the series after bachelorette Elise Mosca offered him a rose but he rejected it.
"I feel good about the decision I made with Elise. I think that Elise is out of her mind. From Day 1, everyone saw Elise and me as a couple and I didn't get a fair opportunity to meet other people. I'm just bummed that [Sarah Herron] passed up on an opportunity that could've been great. I wasn't worth the rose. It's just too bad; It's too bad," Dylan said following his ouster.
Bachelor in Paradise's second episode began with host Chris Harrison talking about what happened with Michelle Kujawa when she chose to suddenly quit the show. A few days before production started, the cast was staying at a nearby hotel, where Michelle K. struck up flirtation with a man living next door to her.
Michelle K. and this man talked over the balcony until she finally unlocked the door to their adjoining rooms. The morning after the season's first Rose Ceremony, Chris H. went to Michelle K.'s room to find out what happened, but she refused to let him in or give him her side of the story.
The man was a crew member named Ryan Putz. They apparently spent a lot of time together and had developed strong feelings for one another. Michelle K. later confirmed the story to a producer, saying she cared about him and he was a sweetheart who brought her hand-picked flowers. Although Michelle K. initially claimed nothing more had happened between them, that's not what producers heard.
The night Michelle K. left the show, she came back to the hotel and Ryan came to see her in her room. There was a knock at the door and Ryan tried to hide on the balcony about 25 feet up from the ground. He ended up jumping off the balcony, seemingly breaking his legs while repeatedly yelling that he didn't want to lose his job and had made a big mistake. Ryan owned up to his actions once he made it to the hospital and told the cameras he had misjudged how far up the balcony was.
Following the first Rose Ceremony, Lacy Faddoul was ecstatic to get to know Marcus Grodd better after he gave her his rose. Robert Graham was a little hurt and disappointed because he had feelings for Lacy and they even shared a kiss during the first week.
At this point, the following couples had been formed: AshLee Frazier and Graham Bunn, Dylan and Elise, and Marcus and Lacy.
The girls knew their role this week was to hand out a rose to the men. Chris Bukowski then arrived at the mansion on the beach with a date card.
Marcus heard he wasn't a great guy, so he hoped he "wouldn't try to steal anybody's woman." AshLee also wondered what his motives were because he had "a questionable reputation."

Elise, however, thought Chris B. was "handsome, confident and smelled good." Graham noted Chris B. had a reputation of enjoying company with different ladies and he figured Chris B. would explore every relationship or opportunity he could "regardless of what connection they may or may not already have."
Chris B. then asked Clare Crawley out on his date. Clare wanted to make her own judgments about him and push past her doubts to have an experience. Even if Chris B. was a "womanizer, douchebag and big mouth," she wanted to figure that out on her own.
Meanwhile, Robert was shocked to see Lacy and Marcus together, kissing and what not, because he had previously opened up to her. Robert didn't think he'd do that to someone, as it was like "rubbing mud" in his face. Marcus then got to choose a girl to take on a date and he obviously picked Lacy. She accepted the invitation and Robert felt like an outcast in the house.
On Chris B. and Clare's date, they enjoyed a couple's massage. Chris B. said he learned from not being the best guy in his past, and once he found the one, "the girl," he'd be the perfect, loving and loyal boyfriend or husband. Clare thought he was a nice guy and connected with him.
Chris B. told the cameras he thought he had selected "the right girl" because he liked Clare's confidence and laid-back nature. She also became more attracted to him as the day progressed, calling him "a man" and not "a boy."
Elise said she and Dylan were "connecting on every level," and she admitted she was falling in love with him. She had never felt that way before and wanted to last way beyond paradise with Dylan. On the flip side, Dylan felt deprived of space, telling the cameras he was feeling "smothered." Dylan couldn't help but think he was missing out on opportunities to meet and hang out with other people.
Dylan then told Elise he wouldn't be upset if either of them went on a date with someone else. Elise, however, believed they had a good connection and that was what the show was all about. She thought Dylan was scared of having such strong feelings so quickly and told him that she didn't care to meet other guys.
Dylan just tried to explain that he was open to the idea of dating other people. Elise therefore decided she'd try to pull back from Dylan a little bit, giving him time and space as to not lose him. She figured they'd miss each other and go running back into each other's arms.

Meanwhile, Sarah noticed Chris B. and Elise were "vibing." She wasn't surprised Chris B. had moved on from Clare so quickly. Elise didn't mind if flirting with Chris B. upset Dylan because he had told her to get to know other people. Elise wanted to make Dylan jealous and said he should be careful what he wishes for. Elise acknowledged that if Dylan wasn't 100% into her, Chris B. was definitely an option.
Chris B. and Elise ended up making out in the ocean. Clare observed the scene from a distance and recognized that he was "a professional" and "almost had her fooled." It confirmed to her what kind of guy he is, and Clare said there was no chance he'd be getting her rose.
Elise told friends she wanted a serious relationship and a family, while Chris B. told Lacy he was on Bachelor in Paradise "for fun."
Although Elise had fun with Chris B., she was still obsessed with her organic chemistry with Dylan. She thought they shared a special connection and was dedicated to their romance. Elise assumed their time apart was simply "a bump in the road" and "a turning point" in their growing relationship.
Elise then admitted to Dylan she had kissed someone and he called it "a slap in the face." Dylan accused Elise of kissing a man just to get a reaction out of him, but she denied that. Elise insisted she thought of Dylan while kissing Chris B, but Dylan fired back that she was making no sense and he didn't think they'd just go off and hook up with other people. He just wanted to meet new people.
Dylan explained in a confessional that Elise's move "solidified" they weren't meant to be. She asked him not to write her off because of it because the kiss "meant nothing," but Dylan told her that it just made him realize they wouldn't work out. Elise immediately regretted kissing Chris B., and Dylan asked Elise not to give him a rose at the upcoming ceremony.
Zack Kalter then arrived at the Tulum beach resort with a date card of his own. Clare was thrilled to see him, explaining that they were friends and had previously hung out in groups. She liked that he was "a regular, cool guy" with no drama.
In turn, Zack thought Clare and AshLee were both hot, but he ended up asking Clare out on the date. Sparks flew between the couple and Clare was excited to have finally felt "a little tingle" and connection with a man on the island.
"I felt his connection in the ocean," Clare laughed.
Meanwhile, Elise and Dylan were on two entirely different pages. Elise was convinced they were just having a fight and would work through things, but Dylan lost interest completely and believed their relationship was simply over for good -- other than remaining friends. Chris B. was hoping for a date card so that he could ask Elise out and get her mind off Dylan.
"If I could kick anyone out of here to make life easier, it would definitely be Dylan. He looks like a bloater, tanner version of Matt Damon from Good Will Hunting. I have a new nickname for Dylan -- 'Fat Damon.' So here's the thing, I kissed Fat Damon's girl, and now, he's got to go 'good will hunting' for someone else," Chris told the cameras.
Dylan then received the next date card and asked Sarah to join him. Elise and Sarah were best friends, so Sarah asked her for permission to go on the date. Elise was shocked Dylan didn't ask her on the date, as she believed they had jumped over their first hurdle in their relationship. Elise thought it was obvious they both cared about each other.

Elise ended up being glad that Dylan asked Sarah out on the date because she seemed to think Sarah was a safe choice. Elise assumed Sarah wouldn't hit on Dylan nor would the couple hit it off with each other. Sarah, however, was still looking for a relationship and went on the date with an open mind.
Dylan hoped Sarah would find an interest in him, that she'd see something she'd like. He told Sarah on their dinner date that he didn't ask her out by default -- he was attracted to her and thought she was gorgeous. Sarah wanted to get to know him better as well because everyone got along with and liked him.
Dylan loved something about Sarah. He liked how she was "hilarious, open and confident," and he could see them being in a relationship.
Meanwhile, Ben told the cameras he wanted to find someone badly, and Michelle Money was impressed by how cool he seemed to be. Marcus then stumbled upon a letter in Ben's bag from a woman who loved him. Marcus showed Marquel Martin the letter, and both guys agreed it was clear Ben had a girlfriend back home.
The pair of guys then comforted Ben because they wanted him to leave the show. Marcus told Ben "it'd be f-cked up if it's true," and Ben didn't deny the accusation. Ben told Marcus and Marquel that he had found the letter once he got on the island. Marcus assumed Ben was just on the show for TV time and he couldn't believe Ben was dating a girl whom he loved all the while appearing on Bachelor in Paradise.
Ben, however, reminded people how he wasn't trying to build a connection with anyone on the island. Marquel threw Ben under the bus, saying his presence was disrespectful to everyone's time, because they were all looking for a serious relationship while he already had one. Ben admitted his girl back home was "important" yet he just wanted to go on the show to have a great experience.
Michelle M. started to cry because she left her daughter at home to found love and took the process so seriously. She assumed every person was there for the same reason and was offended to discover that wasn't actually the case. Ben then announced he was going home.
Clare was also frustrated because she thought Ben had a lot of opportunities to tell them the truth. Like Michelle, Clare didn't want to deal with anyone who might be wasting their time. Michelle was upset that Ben took the spot of a man whom she could've fallen in love with. She told the bachelor that his actions affected everyone.
"Goodbye Hollywood. I'm done," Ben said when departing.
Before the week's Rose Ceremony began, Chris B. admitted he'd be devastated if Elise didn't really like him in return. Michelle felt strongly about Marquel, enjoying their open lines of communication. However, Marquel offended Michelle by saying it seemed like she drank too much alcohol. Turned off a little bit, Michelle talked to Robert and the pair agreed they'd like to go on a date with one another.
Dylan then told Sarah he would reject Elise's rose if she offered it to him. Sarah could tell Dylan was invested in her, and she sadly noted that Elise was "obsessing" about him and "going crazy." Sarah told Dylan she felt uneasy and uncomfortable with the situation because her best friend cared about him so much. Dylan simply reminded Sarah that she was on the show to find love, not friendships.

Dylan expressed how they were just friends, yet Elise was still convinced they had an effortless connection that he couldn't deny. Her bond with Dylan was apparently something she "had dreamed about" ever since she was a little girl. Elise thought Dylan was in denial about the fact they were on a path to true love.
The season's second Rose Ceremony then commenced. Lacy offered her rose to Marcus, and he accepted. AshLee gave her rose to Graham, and he accepted. Clare gave her rose to Zack, who accepted the gesture.
Michelle then offered her rose to Marquel, who accepted. Robert thought he was getting her rose, so he was a little confused. Elise then tried to give Dylan her rose, but like he had previously insisted, he turned her down. After giving an awkward speech about how each woman in the house deserved 100% from a man, she gave Chris B. her rose. Chris B. gladly accepted.
Sarah then surprisingly gave her rose to Robert -- not Dylan. Robert was glad to remain on the show and said in a confessional that he was excited to hang out with and get to know Sarah better going forward.
