"I don't think that she handled things very well with Brayden," Wells said of Kat during the Friday, October 13 episode of Us Weekly's "Here for the Right Reasons" podcast.
When Tanner arrived in Paradise after the first Rose Ceremony of the season, Kat -- who had accepted Brayden's rose and seemed smitten with him -- accepted Tanner's date invitation without hesitancy or any reluctance.
Not only did Kat go on Tanner's date without warning or speaking to Brayden first, but she also boasted about how she had a wonderful time once she returned to the Paradise beach.
"The fact I wasn't thinking about us while I was there [is a problem]," Kat told Brayden. "I was just happy and enjoying it, and I was really tapped in. I wasn't tapped in at all to what would be happening here between you and I."
According to Wells, Kat's brutal dumping of Brayden surprised him.
After all, Brayden had told the cameras that he could see a future with Kat and was falling in love with her.
"From my eyes, they were one of the strongest couples on the beach before [Tanner and Tyler Norris] got there," Wells explained.
"So I was very, very surprised that she didn't at least be like, 'Hey, let's go talk about this beforehand.' I also hated -- and I love Kat -- but I hated when she came down dressed up for the date and he was like, 'Hey, you look beautiful.' And she totally dismissed him."
Wells admitted Kat's behavior in that moment "broke" his heart "for Brayden."

Once Kat was done with Brayden, Brayden vented to Bachelor in Paradise cameras about how the bachelorette had allegedly played him and used him for a rose.
Brayden even told Kat that she had made him feel "dirty" and "cheap" like a "wh-re," and he called her a "maneater" behind her back.
Brayden joined the Bachelor in Paradise cast after being portrayed as a villain on Charity's The Bachelorette season.
Brayden was best remembered for fighting with other guys, being noncommittal with Charity, and acting with arrogance. (And for his long earrings).
Wells told Us that he wasn't excited to meet Brayden in Paradise initially.
"I did not like [Brayden] coming into this season... I think most Bachelor Nation [felt the same way] and I love being proven wrong," Wells shared.
"Every season, it happens. He reminds me a lot of [The Bachelorette alum Dean Unglert]."
Wells explained how both Brayden and Dean are "out there" but remain totally true to themselves.

Dean is also a married man now. He wed his longtime girlfriend, Caelynn Miller-Keyes, in Colorado last month.
"So I love Brayden," Wells reiterated.
"I love that he has this redemption story. I think it's great. It's a good life lesson. Sometimes you really cannot judge a book by its cover or whatnot. You got to give people a second chance."

Bachelor in Paradise fans anticipate Brayden may set his eyes on Rachel Recchia, who starred on The Bachelorette's nineteenth season, now that his romance with Kat is over.
Brayden recently told Us that Rachel is "absolutely beautiful," and he gushed of her, "She is carefree and fun, and she's super intelligent. I mean, she's a freaking pilot. That's pretty freaking cool. There's a lot of things about her that [are] really amazing."
Brayden added of Rachel, "And so I think the better question would be instead of what are the good traits about her, what are some of the bad traits that wouldn't make you date her? Because I feel like those are very few. So she's a great girl."
Rachel, however, is currently coupled up with Sean McLaughlin -- another suitor from Charity's The Bachelorette season -- on Bachelor in Paradise.
"[Former leads] are treated differently [by fellow contestants on Bachelor in Paradise]," Wells said.
"There'll be people that went home Night 1 or were there for the first Rose Ceremony, and then they're gone. And they meet a lead, someone like [Becca Kufrin] or Rachel, who have done so much television [and] it is a little bit of like, 'Oh my God, look at this.'"
Wells laughed about how Hannah Brown coming down the steps of Paradise was like "the second coming of Christ."
Wells recalled with a laugh, "It was the weirdest thing; everyone was freaked out."

"I think Aven was weird for her," Wells told the magazine.
"I don't know if Tyler was weird for her at all. I think she was excited to see both of them, but I think she was nervous to talk to Aven; I think she was excited to talk to Tyler."
Bachelor in Paradise's next Season 9 episode is set to air Thursday, October 19 at 9PM ET/PT on ABC.
