ABC made Grant Ellis' The Bachelor casting announcement shortly after his elimination aired on The Bachelorette's August 12 episode, which had shown Jenn Tran ousting Grant before hometown dates.
ABC executive Rob Mills explained later that month why Grant was announced as The Bachelor star weeks before either The Men Tell All or the finale of Jenn's The Bachelorette season had aired on the network.
"We are announcing Grant so quickly so people can still apply to be on his season," Rob wrote via X, which was formerly called Twitter.
"If you think Grant is potentially the man of your dreams or you know someone who is apply ASAP!!!"
