Bear Grylls will be returning to Discovery Channel's American network, not just its international editions.

"I am super excited to be working with Discovery again -- the channel where the Man vs. Wild journey began," the extreme outdoorsman and survival expert said in a statement.
"Bear Grylls: Escape from Hell, and any future endeavors, will be intense, but that's where the fun is! Man vs. Wild took me to some of the toughest climates and terrains out there, and this new series is an exciting evolution of that. The aim is to follow incredible real-life survival stories and demonstrate dynamic life-saving know-how along the way."
Bear Grylls: Escape from Hell will feature Grylls placing himself in the same dangers and situations as ordinary people who were under such dire circumstances yet survived to share their stories. Working with archival footage and interviews with the survivors, Grylls will re-live their experiences first-hand and show viewers how to survive in each different scenario.
Discovery Channel's international network division, Discovery Networks International, had originally announced the series as Bear Grylls: Ultimate Survivors back in February, and at the time, the show was only set to air on the international channels and not here in the United States. The series already debuted on Discovery Channel's UK network last month and will conclude after six one-hour long episodes.
Grylls starred in six seasons of Man vs. Wild for Discovery, however the cable network terminated its relationship with the survival expert early last year after he reportedly failed to fulfill a contractual agreement to participate in two unannounced projects.
"Due to a continuing contractual dispute with Bear Grylls, Discovery has terminated all current productions with him," the network said in a March 2012 statement.
In addition to Man vs. Wild, Grylls also starred in Worst Case Scenario for Discovery, as well as several additional specials. Worst Case Scenario featured Grylls putting himself in potentially life-threatening situations and showing viewers how to get out of them.
Following the termination of his relationship with Discovery, Grylls also starred in Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls, a new series which aired on NBC this past summer.
NBC has reportedly not made a decision on a second season of Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls, according to Entertainment Weekly.
