For Sanjay and Tori, it was a rocky relationship from the beginning. Before the beauties and geeks were paired together, they caught a glimpse of each other in the hallway of where they are staying and were then secluded by gender in separate rooms. One by one, a beauty and a geek would enter the other gender's room, introduce themselves and answer any questions thrown at them. After Sanjay scared most of the ladies with his impression of a blender, Tori decided the virgin was her man.
In the first challenge, the girls had to find three books from numerous library stacks by using the Dewey Decimal System. Contained in each of the books was a social task that each of the boys then had to complete. The tasks included enticing a passerby on the street into rubbing suntan lotion on their back, getting a girl's phone number and asking another passerby to borrow their cell phone. Whoever called host Mike Richards first was the winner.

However in a departure from seasons past, no elimination was held on the first night, and instead each couple was given the opportunity to leave on their own for a smaller cash prize than the $250,000 the winning couple will receive at the series' end. After the purse made it all the way to $20,000, none of the pairs decided to leave, although Andrea, a 23-year-old student and bartender from Kansas City, MO, and Matt, a 22-year-old MIT graduate from Goldens Bridge, NY came extremely close to taking the money.
"There's just some parts of this experience that money can't buy," said Piao, a 25-year-old tax accountant from Kissimmee, FL, as he summed up the feelings for most couples.
After Cecille gave Matt a girly makeover, much to the chagrin of Andrea, it was on to the challenges that would determine who was safe and who would also pick the two couples for the elimination. The geeks got to show-off their humor, as they performed a stand-up comedy routine in-front of an audience at the Laugh Factory. With 86% of the audience's vote, Nate overwhelmingly won the challenge. The girls then had their challenge, where they had to interview "Freakonomics" co-author Stephen Dubner and were judged on their skills by two TV news professionals. Sheree, a 27-year-old former Hooters waitress from Live Oak, FL nailed the interview and staved off elimination for herself and her partner, Piao.
Tori struggled mightily, missing the prompter's cue to start the interview several times, and Sanjay let her know he wasn't pleased, causing the two to argue back at the house. Nate said it was with a "heavy heart" that he chose Sanjay and Tori to appear in the elimination round, and Sheree described Erin as a "sweetheart" and Drew as a "lovely guy" before sending them to the elimination round. When all was said and done, Sanjay and Tori were sent packing.
"Give geeks a chance. We're great people," said Sanjay as he left the house.
Beauty and the Geek 3 will continue on Wednesday, January 10 at 8PM ET/PT on The CW. The remaining couples are Nate and Ceceille, Sheree and Piao, Nadia and Mario, Jennylee and Niel, Erin and Drew, Andrea and Matt, and Megan and Scooter.
