BET has announced the second season of Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, a docu-reality series that chronicles the 25-year-old R&B singer in both her personal and professional life, is scheduled to premiere this October.

Cole released her platinum selling "The Way It Is" debut album in 2005, and the first season of her BET docu-reality show premiered in July 2006.  The first season offered viewers a glimpse at how Cole went from the daughter of a drug addict growing-up in Oakland, CA, to a foster child at the age of 5, to an established R&B artist.

"Last year we witnessed so many incredible moments in Keyshia's life, and the season was truly compelling - especially the last episode between Keyshia and her mom," said Reginald Hudlin, BET's president of entertainment. "I couldn't wait to bring the series back, so our audiences could once again enjoy this honest and exclusive storytelling."

Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is' second season will focus on Cole's continued growth as an R&B artist, with her sophomore effort "Just Like You" scheduled to drop on September 17.  The six-episode series will also continue to follow her personal life, as Cole tries to rebuild her relationship with her estranged mother.  She also is apparently on the search to find her "supposedly dead" father.

"This season is a must-see," says James DuBose, the show's executive producer. "In terms of real life, this is an inspirational story-young or old, black or white, it doesn't matter. Everyone will be inspired by the strength and fortitude of Keyshia Cole."
