Big Brother Head of Household Cody Calafiore decided to keep his two nominations for eviction the same after winning the Power of Veto competition during Wednesday night's 28th broadcast of the show's sixteenth season on CBS.

Cody originally put Nicole Franzel and Donny Thompson on the chopping block, and after winning the PoV, he opted to keep his nominations the same as a surefire way to keep the target on Donny's back. Nicole had just recently won her way back into the game after winning a competition.
Big Brother's 28th episode began with Cody saying that Nicole was sitting on the block to appease his "Detonators" alliance -- which was also comprised of Frankie Grande, Derrick Levasseur, and Christine Brecht -- and if she wanted to play the game again, she'd have to earn it.
Meanwhile, Caleb Reynolds, who believed himself to be a part of the old "Bomb Squad" alliance still, was convinced Donny's a genius and therefore feared him. The "Detonators" have just been keeping Caleb around as a pawn because his loyalty to them was obvious.
Cody then spoke to Derrick about having Frankie or Christine be their replacement nominee in case either Donny or Nicole ended up winning the PoV competition. Derrick liked how his fellow Final 2 "Hitmen" alliance member was talking about making big moves, however, he shot down the idea.

Derrick explained that if Donny or Nicole won HoH next week, it would result in two automatic votes against them and they'd probably be put up on the chopping block. Derrick also said the duo might have a shot at turning Christine against them and Frankie would be pissed off if they evicted Caleb behind his back.
Cody didn't really trust Frankie and Christine and assumed the pair would nominate him or Derrick eventually.
Donny then learned the next "Team America" mission. Donny, Derrick and Frankie had to try to come up with a mission of their own that would impress the majority of home viewers. Each houseguest would receive $5,000 if they could successfully complete such a mission.
Donny, clearly on the outside of the house, thought it would be a great idea for their mission to be "Team America" sticking together going forward. Since fans voted Donny into "Team America," he explained to Frankie and Derrick that they'd be disappointed to see them split up if he was to get evicted next.
Derrick considered the option of getting rid of Nicole first and admitted he was "torn," but Frankie was completely against the idea and instead came up with a plan to execute a funny play for home viewers. Frankie thought it would be a disaster for his game to flip the house just to ensure Donny's safety.

Donny was upset neither guy would go along with his strategy, but Derrick explained that everyone was just scared of him because he had such a big heart and was just a great person overall. Derrick told Donny that if he made it into the Final 2, he would definitely win, and so no one wanted to let that happen.
Derrick has become increasingly more concerned about what would be best for his own personal game. He wasn't sure whether riding things out with the "Detonators" all the way was his best option. In the back of his mind, Derrick wondered whether keeping Donny around for another week might actually benefit him.
With the "Detonators" working together, they all threw the PoV competition so Cody could win it and Donny would definitely lose it.
Cody and Derrick seriously considered splitting up Caleb and Frankie because the guys had clearly grown very close in the house. However, the pair stuck with the initial plan to just get out Donny, therefore keeping Cody's initial nominations the same. Cody wanted to make a big move badly but felt the need to pull the trigger on Donny so that his allies wouldn't question his ties.
Donny realized he was in big trouble and planned to exit the game with his head held high. However, he acknowledged his last-ditch effort would be to campaign and convince "Team America" to join forces.
