Big Brother's Head of Household Steve Moses named a replacement nominee after Austin Matelson, who was on the chopping block, won the Power of Veto competition.

Wednesday night's episode began with Austin and his girlfriend Liz Nolan on the block together. Liz cried about not wanting to be left in the house without Austin. She was really upset, saying she never would have put Steve in that position, so it "meant war."
Liz and Austin knew if either of them won the PoV, Steve would be forced to nominate Vanessa Rousso as the replacement. For that reason, they thought winning the PoV competition was vital to staying in the game because the house would probably target Vanessa in that case. But what the couple didn't know was that Vanessa had a secret side alliance with Steve and John McGuire.
Austin determined it made the most sense to try to throw the PoV competition to Julia Nolan, because then she wouldn't be able to go up on the chopping block -- ultimately forcing Vanessa's placement. If Julia had no shot to win, however, they had to fight for themselves.
Austin, Liz, Julia, Steve, Vanessa and John all competed in the ballerina and bowling-themed PoV competition hosted by "Mr. Pectacular." Vanessa secretly wanted the nominations to stay the same because she believed it was necessary to split up Austin and the twins. Steve also declared Julia winning the PoV was worst case scenario for himself and his alliance with Vanessa and John.

In the competition, the houseguests had to face off in pairs and choose their competitors. Vanessa convinced Julia to compete against Austin instead of John, which was best for her own game since it would knock out either threat. Vanessa asked Julia to trust her, and she bought it, but Liz and Austin were furious because she had the chance to knockout John and they'd be defeating one of their own.
Austin felt betrayed and confused, wondering if his closest allies had turned their backs on him. Out of paranoia and frustration, Austin determined he had to win the veto for himself and throwing the competition to Julia was no longer an option. Vanessa told Julia she had to beat Austin in the competition in order to save herself from nominations.
In the end, Austin defeated John and won the PoV. John wasn't that pissed because he knew it meant they could get rid of one of the twins. Because Vanessa was campaigning to keep Julia off the chopping block, Austin questioned whether Vanessa was still on his side.
Liz and Austin got into a fight because he bragged about his victory and Liz realized there was no shot her boyfriend was going to save her in this game like Clay Honeycutt fell on the sword for his girl Shelli Poole. Austin explained no one would respect him if he just fell over and died for his girlfriend.
Julia felt terrible for listening to Vanessa, but Vanessa played her cards well and convinced the twins she had their best interests in mind. Vanessa explained that the worst case scenario happened for them in that Austin won the PoV and Julia was going to get nominated for eviction in his place.

Vanessa also manipulated Austin by telling him that the idea of throwing the competition to Julia meant her butt would be sitting on the block instead of Julia. Vanessa managed to persuade Austin he was the one who betrayed her and was showing he wasn't trustworthy.
Vanessa succeeded in briefly turning Austin and the twins against each other by insisting Austin was never going to throw the PoV competition and he was playing Julia the whole time. Vanessa swore on her own family members that Austin never had the intention of keeping both of the twins safe and his own game always came first because he couldn't beat them both in the Final 3.
Steve realized Vanessa had her hand in a lot of cookie jars, and she was manipulative and persuasive. He worried about sitting next to her in the Final 2.
At the Veto Meeting, Austin revealed he hated being the agent that ultimately pitted the twins against one another. He decided to use the Power of Veto to save himself in order to stay in the game and continue protecting Liz. Steve then named Julia the replacement nominee.
Julia and Liz both cried in the diary room about how they wanted to sacrifice their own game to save their sister. Julia said Liz deserved to stay more, but Liz cried that Julia gave up her identity for half the game and so she should have the opportunity continue playing.
