Bobbi Kristina Brown has undergone a tracheotomy to rearrange her breathing tube.

"It's a normal procedure to have the tracheotomy because if you have a breathing tube down there for a long time, it can cause an infection," the family source told People.
"The tracheotomy is a different place for the tube to go. Everything else remains the same. It's a waiting game. The family is hoping and waiting."
The procedure, however, didn't bring about any change in Bobbi Kristina's condition.
"She is still critical and we don't know what the outcome will be," the source added. "No one is giving up on this kid."
Bobbi Kristina, 21, was found face down and unresponsive in their home's bathtub January 31 with questionable injuries on her body. Her friend Max Lomas found her in the tub and longtime boyfriend Nick Gordon, 25, tried to revive her before she was rushed to a hospital in Roswell, GA.
She was later taken to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta where she could receive the best neurological treatment. She's been there ever since.
A second family insider told the magazine the tracheotomy made it clear to the Brown and Houston family how grim the situation is now.
"There's a medical reason behind [the tracheotomy], but it's making things clear to everyone how serious this is. Even if she wakes up, there's a possibility that this could do some damage to her vocal chords, I hear," the insider said.
"This is happening because there are no other options. If there was another way, [her dad Bobby Brown] would do it."
After Whitney Houston's death, Bobbi Kristina, Gordon and several other family members starred on The Houstons: On Our Own, a reality series which aired on Lifetime in 2012.
