Singer Bobby Brown surprised music fans -- and his girlfriend -- by proposing on stage during the first night of Funk Fest in Jacksonville, Fla.
"We shouted, we screamed," fan Carol Pearsall told the newspaper. "We supported him."
Added her husband, "Hopefully he'll get it right this time."
Brown's troubled marriage to pop star Whitney Houston was well documented and the couple even starred in a reality TV show, "Being Bobby Brown." The couple married in 1992 and divorced in 2007.
Other acts performing Friday and Saturday were SWV, Slick Rick and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, the Times-Union said.Funk fans fought off the heat Saturday in a variety of ways and artists frequently reminded the sweating masses to drink water.
