Michaels, 48, was rushed to the hospital in April 2010 with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain. St. Joseph's is the home of Barrow Neurological Institute and Michaels was treated by Barrow neurosurgeons, the hospital said Monday in a release.

Michaels, who made a rapid recovery after his release from Barrow, went on to win Celebrity Apprentice in 2010 and continues to perform.

"I want to give something back to the hospital that helped save my life," Michaels said. "Phoenix is my home and I'm proud to be a part of this community."

Michaels' new music room, located in the neurological institute near patients' rooms, will be designed to include music listening stations and relaxation areas for patients' families, the hospital said.
