VH1 has announced former Poison frontman Bret Michaels will reprise his role as the object of affection for Rock of Love's second season, which is scheduled to premiere in early 2008.

Rock of Love's first season premiered in mid-July, and the Flavor of Love-like reality dating series followed Michaels as he whittled down a group of bachelorettes to Jes Rickleff, a 23-year-old cosmetologist from Chicago, IL, and Heather Chadwell, a 32-year-old stripper from Las Vegas, NV.

While Chadwell seemed better suited for Michaels' rock 'n roll lifestyle, he chose Rickleff as his selected suitor during the show's September 30 finale broadcast.

However Rickleff already ended her romantic relationship with Michaels, informing him that it was over when she returned home to Chicago after filming the show because she's instead decided to remain with her Windy City-based boyfriend.  VH1 formally revealed Rickleff's decision during this past Sunday's broadcast of Rock of Love's reunion special.

VH1 announced last month -- before Rock of Love's pre-taped finale even aired -- that it was casting single girls 21-years or older "who are looking to win the love of the rock star of their dreams."  While the identity of the show's second-season star wasn't revealed at the time, VH1 announced Tuesday that it would once again be Michaels who will narrow a field of 20 women to try and find love.

Similar to Rock of Love's first season, the women competing for his affection will be tested on their "devotion" to him through numerous challenges, with the winners being rewarded with dates.

Rock of Love's first-season finale averaged 5.4 million total viewers and was also the No. 1 show on cable television for the night as well as the No. 1 non-sports program on cable for the week.  The show's reunion special averaged 3.9 million total viewers.
