Caitlyn Jenner has inspired a Halloween costume for sale that apparently has critics furious and lashing out.

Spirit Halloween, a costume company that spans locations across the United States and Canada, has created a controversial Halloween costume that is being bashed for insulting transgender people and promoting stereotypes, Reuters reported.

A petition was reportedly launched on Monday demanding that Spirit Halloween curtails production of the costume and stops selling it entirely. The costume features a brunette wig, a shiny white-padded bustier and shorts that mimic the I Am Cait's coming-out cover photo on Vanity Fair. Included is also a pageant sash that reads, "Call Me Caitlyn," which was the headline of that magazine's particular issue.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the petition has almost 3,000 signatures.

Although the costume is not for sale on Spirit Halloween's website, it's available for pre-order on other retail websites. On Anytime Costumes' website, according to Reuters, a description of the ensemble mentions how you could "get a few laughs" by dressing like the former Olympian.

"Trans is not a costume. Even though Caitlyn is a public figure and I could understand someone wanting to celebrate her as a hero and as a public figure, this could definitely take on a transphobic vibe," activist Addison Rose Vincent, who started the petition, reportedly said.

The petition insists the costume is not funny considering the transgender community deals with violence, suicide and other major issues every day.

Jenner and Spirit Halloween both declined comment when contacted.
