A California court has vacated its ruling that the Broward County, Fla., medical examiner hold Anna Nicole Smith's body until paternity tests were performed.

Earlier Wednesday a Broward County, Fla., judge ordered the county medical examiner keep Smith's body until the California judge ruled on a paternity case. The order did not prevent Smith's body from being embalmed.

It was determined that the three DNA cards, bone marrow and several vials of Smith's blood collected by medical examiner Joshua Perper was sufficient.

Perper said the body should be released because delays "might affect the integrity of the body and its aesthetic appearance following embalming."

Smith died Feb. 8 in a Hollywood, Fla., hospital, where she was taken after being found unresponsive in her hotel room.
