As America races out to cast their votes on Election Day, don't expect any political advice from Carrie Underwood.

"I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate," the fourth-season American Idol champion told TV Guide in the magazine's November 10 issue. "There is someone I do support but I don't support publicly."
Underwood continued that she feels celebrities who publicly support specific politicians are essentially implying that the American public isn't "smart enough to make their own decisions."
"I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to," Underwood told TV Guide. "I think everyone needs to go check out what the candidates are all about and make an informed decision on their own."
Instead, Underwood said that she would rather have people think of her work as a pleasant distraction from the world of politics, not a reminder of it.

"Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it's from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape," she told TV Guide.
