The Bachelor star Sean Lowe picked Catherine Giudici as his final bachelorette and proposed to her during Monday night's finale of the ABC reality dating show's seventeenth season.
 
Sean chose Catherine, a 26-year-old graphic designer from Seattle, WA, over runner-up Lindsay Yenter, a 24-year-old substitute teacher from Fort Leonard Wood, MO, the morning of the final Rose Ceremony when he ultimately decided he had fallen madly in love and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

During a Tuesday conference call with reporters, the happy couple talked to Reality TV World about the end of the season and some controversial topics discussed amongst fans and the media. To read what they had to say, click here.

Could you talk a little bit about how you spent a lot of time in the house in LA while the show was airing? And what's been the biggest surprise you've learned about each other since the show ended.

Catherine Giudici:  I think that just spending more time with him in a different, you know, a different spot.  He's just so relaxed and so comfortable and we just have a blast together.  We were just goofballs and that really didn't change.  I don't know what other things that I didn't know about him before.  So yes, I mean, we started to hang out together and that was the best thing.

And Sean?

Sean Lowe:  Yes, I've learned -- if I've learned anything I think it's just how incredibly passionate Catherine is and how much she wants to love me, and I couldn't ask for anything more in a potential wife. And I think I'm growing more and more in love with her as each day passes and hopefully that never stops.

And, you know, I think some people have the fear after the filming is over that things might not be the same or you might not have those feelings of love after you get away from the exotic destinations and so forth, but that's certainly not true in our case. 

Sean, who's going to be your best man and, Catherine, who will be your maid of honor? 

Sean Lowe:  That is still to be determined for me.  I've got a lot of close friends and family members.  And I have not made that decision just yet. 

Catherine Giudici:  I have already told my maid of honor that she will be holding that very great position.  Crista Osher has been -- she was the one that signed me up for the show.  She found my prince charming.  And she's been so supportive and such a lady this whole time.  I've been really blessed to have her in my life. 

Will Emily Maynard be invited to the wedding? 

Sean Lowe:  Probably not.  You know, I think the world of Emily, and I want nothing but good things for her.  But I don't know if it would be the most appropriate thing to have her at the wedding. 

What is the nerdiest thing you two have done together? Because Catherine, you were shown saying you were a "nerd" a lot during the season.

Sean Lowe:  The nerdiest thing? Because there's a lot...

Catherine Giudici:  Yes, he calls me a nerd.  I would like to say I'm a dork.  But, you know, we do nerdy things, for sure. 

Sean Lowe:  She quotes Harry Potter all the time. 

Catherine Giudici:  I never quote Harry.  He's lying.  I never quote Harry Potter.  I don't know.  I think that that multiplication contest in Thailand was pretty nerdy.

One of the things that really stood out to me this season was how Catherine would write you notes, Sean. Are you still writing notes? 

Catherine Giudici:  Oh, yes. Notes are, you know, are important for me to express to him that I'm thinking about him all the time and just for him to take around.  They're really small so he can take them around wherever he wants.  And I think that that's really special to our relationship, and I'm doing as much as I can. 

Catherine, how did you feel about everyone just staring at and talking about your fiance's abs and body all the time and him being shirtless this whole season? 

Catherine Giudici:  I mean, obviously he has an amazing body, so I don't -- I never saw any issue with that.  I thought it was funny.  But, no, I mean, if America likes it, then I don't have any problem with it.

So you didn't have any jealousy with that? 

Catherine Giudici:  I mean, if I could have abs like that, I don't know how it would feel, but I don't -- jealousy in terms of the women that like him? 

Yes, that and just how other people stare at him. 

Catherine Giudici:  Oh, I mean... 

Sean Lowe:  She's jealous that she doesn't have my abs. 

Catherine Giudici:  Yes. 

Sean Lowe:  But she's not jealous of the women. 

Catherine Giudici:  Yes.  That's it.

Sean, did you ever feel self-conscious at some point during the show?  And, if so, when was that, you know, specifically with these nude scenes? 

Sean Lowe:  Yes. I always feel self-conscious especially -- if it was like a steamy makeout, I always think, "Oh, man, my grandmother is watching this back home."  It's just a little awkward. 

And then every time they have the gratuitous shirtless scenes -- like in a towel or in the shower, especially at the conclusion of the Sean Tells All episode where they have like the '70s porno music playing and showing me in the shower -- I was really uncomfortable watching that.

Who do you think should be the next Bachelor?  

Sean Lowe:  The next Bachelor?  Wow.  Well, obviously, I don't know anyone who will be on this season.  So I tend to think that Jef Holm would make a good Bachelor myself.  I know he is a bit controversial, but I think he'd be a good Bachelor.

And Catherine? 

Catherine Giudici:  Oh, gosh, well, if you're going to reference Emily's season, I'll do the same -- and John Wolfner. 

Why, Catherine? 

Catherine Giudici:  I don't know.  He stood out to me in that season.  He seems like a genuine guy.  He seems like fun and, yes, he had some heartfelt moments.

What was your favorite date from the entire season? 

Sean Lowe:  It has to be our date in Canada where we went on to the glacier and the giant snow bus. That was our very first one-on-one date and that was just a special day.  The two of us, we had so much fun during the day playing around, acting like big kids, and then, in the evening, having the romantic time inside the ice castle.  That was just a day that I'll never forget. 

Catherine Giudici:  I thought that Thailand and [Si Kai] were really, really special.  I mean, both places, I had a different appreciation for him because I missed him so much after hometown dates and being away from him for so long. I really did have a different connection with him when I was in Thailand, so that was really memorable to me on a lot of levels.

Was there a moment of you Catherine you thought would air but didn't? 

Catherine Giudici:  We actually, during the elephant date, we got sprayed by them while we were kissing, and that was just such a silly moment.  We wish that would have been shown.  And maybe it will be somewhere available to everybody.

Sean, I think what surprised everybody last night is how crazy people were going on Twitter about your father.  I feel like America completely fell in love with him.  So did you think that he would make such an impact?  And what was a good piece of advice that he gave you? 

Sean Lowe:  Yes.  My dad, he's the sweetest man in the world, so it doesn't surprise me that he stole the show.  He stole the show when Emily came to Dallas.  I remember seeing Twitter blow up back then and everyone commenting, you know, how loving and sincere and what a great dad he seems to be, so it's not shocking at all. 

And the cool thing about my dad is he wasn't there to give me advice.  He was there to support his son.  And he knows the man that I am and he knows that I'm going to make the decision that's best for me, and he wasn't looking to give me an instruction or advice or anything like that.  And that's just -- that's who he is, and that's why he is such a great dad.

How excited are you to become a part of the Lowe family? 

Catherine Giudici:  You know, I just saw a glimpse of his family and the love and fun that they shared during Emily's season.  And when I met them in person, it was even better.  I mean, I had an instant connection with all of them.  And it makes me so excited to get to know them further and know that they're completely supportive of our relationship and so many memories are to come.

Catherine, you talked on the show about your relationship with your dad and that he lives out of the country.  Is he going to be at your wedding? 

Catherine Giudici:  Absolutely.  He will be walking me down the aisle.  My dad, I love him so much.  And, you know, I said a lot of personal things on the show and I just want to reiterate the fact that he is such a part of my life and I love him so much, and I'm excited for him to be part of the wedding. 

Sean, what was your mom's reaction to this?  I guess you probably told her once you got home from Thailand that you got engaged. 

Sean Lowe:  Yes.  She was really excited.  I actually called her while we were still in Thailand and told her.  And she's excited. I think she was nervous and stressed out because she didn't really comprehend what my feelings truly were for either girl and she just wants the best for her son. 

And that's why, you know, she said, "Maybe you shouldn't choose either one."  She just didn't want me to make a mistake that I would regret.  And I think it's clear to her now that I didn't make a mistake and she's really happy.

Many The Bachelor couples have come before you that haven't made it, but the day after the show, they're all excited about how they're going to get married and spend their lives together. Why do you believe this is different for you guys? 

Sean Lowe:  You know, we've always said that we don't pay attention to the track record of past Bachelors and Bachelorettes.  I mean, we know what we have.  We know what our relationship is, and that's good enough for us.  We don't have to justify it.  We're happy with who we are and what we have -- and that's all we need. 

Catherine,  I know that you worked at Amazon.  Can you tell me what you did there?  Are you still working there and are you going to continue once you're in LA during Dancing with the Stars? 

Catherine Giudici:  I started in Amazon in January of 2012 and I quit for the show and, since then, I had a different position there.  So, when I started, I was hired to do design work for the Amazon Kindle family, so I did that and kind of went into a little bit more of online commerce ads.  And when they rehired me recently after the show, I did a little bit more strategy.  I'm working... designing, you know, campaigns for potential clients.

So do you think you'll continue working there or is that the kind of work you want to do as you move to Texas? 

Catherine Giudici:  I'm probably going to look at other creative outlets in LA.  I know there's a lot of opportunity there.  I still love Amazon and I support them, but I will not be working for them when I move to LA or to Dallas. 

Sean, there's been a lot of talk about your religious background, but I'm not sure exactly what your religious background is.  And then Catherine, what is your religious background as well, if any?

Sean Lowe:  I'm a Christian.  And that's how I categorize myself, and you know, that's obviously a huge part of my life as most people know, and that's what's most important to me.

But any particular denomination, Sean?

Sean Lowe:  I go to a non-denominational church, so I believe what the Bible says, basically, to sum it up.

And is your dad a preacher of that church?

Sean Lowe:  No.  He's actually not. He's an ordained minister.  He's not a preacher.  He preaches from time to time but he's been going to the same Baptist church in the Dallas area for many years.  We don't go to the same church.

Catherine, what's your religious background, if any?

Catherine Giudici: Well, I grew up learning about different religions, but I have always been a believer in God.  Right now, I've been going to a non-denominational church in Bellevue, and I'm exploring [that].

How do you plan to mesh your backgrounds and different beliefs?

Catherine Giudici:  Well, it's not really meshing.  We're going to come together and I am excited to learn more about Christianity and be a believer.  And that's something that's really important to our future and our family.
