CBS has announced that it is accepting applications for The Amazing Race 9, a traditional "teams of two" edition of the series that will be produced following the upcoming The Amazing Race 8 "family edition" that the network will air this fall.

Mail-in application forms are being accepted now through July 26, 2005. In addition to containing a completed application form. all mail-in applications must be must be accompanied by a three-minute videotape and proof of a valid U.S. passport. Unless they are applying with a new teammate, applicants who previously applied to a prior The Amazing Race edition are urged not to re-apply.

Similar to previous editions of the program, once all the tapes have been reviewed, semi-finalist interviews will be conducted in eight regional cities -- Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, New York, Charlotte, San Francisco, Miami, Tallahassee.

After the September 2005 semi-finalist interviews, finalist interviews will be conducted in Los Angeles during October 2005. The Amazing Race 9 is scheduled to film sometime in or around November 2005, with CBS expected to begin broadcasting the series in early 2006.
