CBS has announced Laila Ali will serve as a contributing correspondent for The Early Show, effective immediately.

"I'll be doing pieces that are inspiring. I hope people walk away from what they see feeling good," Ali told People in a Wednesday report. "It's going to be a lot of fun."

In addition to still serving as the undefeated Super Middleweight Boxing Champion, the 30-year-old also finished third during Dancing with the Stars Spring 2007 fourth-season with professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy; is the current co-host of NBC's American Gladiators revival; and will host Nickelodeon's upcoming The N's Student Body, which will follow a group of teens as they attempt to change their lives through diet, exercise, volunteer work and academics.

"Laila has a unique skill sets that I've come across in broadcast news." said CBS executive Shelley Ross.  "She has been a dedicated educator and author in areas of heath and fitness. She has a spiritual side, while being a fearless competitor. She's a great addition to the The Early Show team."

Ali will be the second reality television host joining The Early Show staff, as Big Brother host Julie Chen has been one of the show's co-anchors since 2002.
