CBS has announced it's bumping the debut of Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden back a week and will now premiere Survivor's seventeenth edition with back-to-back broadcasts of the show's first two episodes.

Although Survivor: The Amazon premiered with a supersized 90-minute episode in 2003, Survivor: Gabon's new scheduling will mark the first time any Survivor edition has ever launched with a two-hour broadcast.
The scheduling move also means Survivor: Gabon -- which was already set to become the first edition of the long-running reality series to air in HDTV -- will now also become only the second Survivor edition to premiere during the official fall television season.
Survivor: Africa, the reality franchise's third edition, debuted in October 2001, however Survivor's last six fall editions have all represented the launch of CBS' fall schedule and premiered before the formal start of each year's new television season.
CBS will formally unveil the identities of Survivor: Gabon's 18 castaways on Wednesday morning's broadcast of The Early Show.
