So far, ticket and album sales for Rock Star Supernova have been not so super.

The band, which was formed during CBS' Rock Star: Supernova reality competition series last summer, still has "good seats" available on its current tour, according to an article in Sunday's The New York Post. As if that weren't bad enough, the band's self-titled debut album, which was released on November 21, 2006, received mostly negative reviews and has failed to make Billboard's Top 100 in the U.S., reaching No. 101 on December 9 but never higher.
There was reason for optimism when Lukas Rossi was chosen as lead singer for the band during Rock Star's second season finale last September. Combined with ex-Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Metallica bass player Jason Newsted and ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, Rock Star Supernova hoped to follow the success of INXS, the existing Australian band that found a new lead singer on Rock Star: INXS, the CBS reality series' 2005 first season. INXS had its first single "Pretty Vegas" debut in the Billboard Top 40, saw its debut album "Switch" make it to the Top 20 and had many of the dates on its tour sell-out.
However things got off to a rough start for Rock Star Supernova. There were legal issues surrounding the band's name when the series aired, and a judge eventually barred the band from using Supernova, the name that was originally supposed to serve as the new band's name, as its name.
Then, not even two months after Rossi was named the winner, Newsted needed immediate shoulder surgery when he tore his left bicep and rotator cuff while trying to catch a bass falling from an amplifier on October 24. While their tour still kicked-off on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas, Newsted was replaced by Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt.

Even though tickets for the tour went on sale almost five months ago, shows in Worchester, Philadelphia and New York are far from sold-out. According to The Post, this Wednesday night's performance at Radio City Music Hall still has eleventh-row seats for sale.
