CBS has announced that Big Brother 5, the fifth edition of its annual summer-long home confinement reality series, will premiere on Tuesday, July 6 at 8 PM ET/PT.

After the show's special 90-minute premiere, the program will settle into its typical three-times-a-week, hour-long broadcast cycle, airing Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT, Thursdays at 8 PM ET/PT, and Saturdays at 9 PM/ET. Similar to last year, the midweek Thursday edition of the program will feature the show's weekly live eviction of one of the houseguests.
Just as in previous seasons, Big Brother 5 will follow a group of strangers living together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move, 24 hours a day. One by one, the houseguests will vote each other out of the house. At the end of three months, the last remaining houseguest will receive the grand prize of $500,000.
Big Brother 5 will be produced by Arnold Shapiro (Scared Straight," Rescue 911) and Allison Grodner (Rescue 911) -- the same team that has been behind every CBS Big Brother edition since they were brought in to salvage the series after its disastrous first season.
