Big Brother 12 is the third consecutive edition of the CBS reality series to begin with 13 houseguests -- however it was originally slated to include 14, The Associated Press reported Wednesday, adding one person "dropped out" before being sequestered in the house and will not be replaced.
Big Brother 12 will premiere Thursday, July 8 at 8PM ET/PT with the houseguests moving into the house and discovering that one of them is the "Big Brother Saboteur" -- a houseguest whose mission will be to carry out home viewer suggestions to disrupt the strategy and game play of the other houseguests.
While the houseguests will learn about the saboteur twist after they move into the house, his or her identity will not be revealed to them.
Home viewers will learn who the saboteur is during the twelfth season's first live eviction show on July 15, at which point they can then begin offering suggestions for the saboteur to disrupt the game via CBS' website.

The longer the saboteur makes it and is able to maintain his or her secret while completing the viewer-inspired tasks, the more he or she will be rewarded financially for it.
"For the first time ever, we have someone in the house who, in a way, is playing their own game," executive producer Allison Grodner told The AP.
"They're playing for a cash prize, if they make it a certain amount of time in the house. If they don't last, they're out, and their cover is blown."
Big Brother 12's cast includes Andrew Gordon, an orthodox Jew who keeps kosher and observes the Sabbath -- which means if a competition is held on a Saturday, he's "not going to do it."
"It's already going to be tough in that house, so it's going to be even tougher dealing with these extra little things," he told The AP.

"People are probably going to look at me as an outsider and wonder what I'm doing and why I'm not eating their food. It's something I've had to explain my whole life as a practicing Jew. Whatever happens, I'll deal with it."
Following its debut, Big Brother will move into its thrice-weekly broadcast schedule -- with Sunday night episodes airing at 8PM ET/PT beginning July 11 and Wednesday night episodes airing at 8PM ET/PT beginning July 14.
The Big Brother house will feature an "Art Deco themed 'Playground by the Shore'" decor for its twelfth season, according to CBS, which added the interior will be accented with palm tree groves and walls of glass while the exterior is lifted straight from Miami's Ocean Avenue.
The house will also include ultra-modern furniture in the living room and bedrooms that pay homage to Miami.
In addition, houseguests on the losing side of certain competitions will be banished to the "Have Not Room" -- which was first introduced last season and is devoid of luxury and comfort.

"It's sort of the dark-side of the decor this year," Grodner told The AP.
"We have a very fun South Beach kind of vibe going on throughout the house this season, and this room is the opposite of all that. I would venture to say it's worse than last year, which was pretty bad."
