Celebrity Big Brother featured 11 houseguest moving into, a Head of Household competition, and the announcement of a new twist during Wednesday night's one-hour premiere on CBS.

The first-ever American celebrity version of Big Brother crowned American Pie actress and former Dancing with the Stars contestant, Shannon Elizabeth, the season's first Head of Household.

However, Big Brother host Julie Chen announced a new twist in which several houseguests may hold the power to dethrone Shannon and take her place as HoH this week.

Celebrity Big Brother's debut episode kicked off with Julie saying 11 celebrities were about to play the "fastest, most intense game ever," with "multiple celebrities evicted every week and power shifting at a record pace."

Viewers were first introduced to Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath, former NBA player Metta World Peace -- formally known as Ron Artest -- former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville, Miss Universe 2015 Ariadna Gutierrez, and RuPaul's Drag Race star and entertainment reporter Ross Mathews.

Mark said he didn't think people would perceive him as a threat but he's actually "a super competitive person." If Mark found out that someone was going after him, that person would absolutely become his target.

Brandi told the cameras that her fellow houseguests were either going to love her or hate her, but all she could do is be herself.

"I'm going to win because I'm a desperate middle aged woman who has to pay for private school," Brandi said.

Ross revealed she's been a Super Fan since Season 1, and his strategy was to be "a nudger" in the game rather than a puppetmaster pulling the strings.

Mark, Brandi, Ross, Ariadna, and Metta World Peace got to enter the Big Brother house as the first group.

Mark called himself "the biggest Lakers fan ever," so he was thrilled to see Metta World Peace.

The houseguests quickly learned they had a fully-stocked bar in the house, and the living room was adorned with gold cameras on the walls.

Viewers then watched introduction videos featuring Shannon, mixed martial artist Chuck Liddell, Big Time Rush singer James Maslow, The Cosby Show star Keshia Knight Pulliam, former The Apprentice contestant and White House staffer Omarosa Manigault, and Hairspray Broadway star Marissa Jaret Winokur.

Shannon revealed if there's a category above Super Fan, she would be in it. Shannon said she has watched every season of Big Brother, and some of them twice! She noted that she's a good poker player and would use her poker face to her advantage in the game.

And Chuck was all fired up, telling the cameras, "I'm more of a laid-back guy and my daughters have me wrapped around their fingers. But stepping into the Big Brother house is like going into a fight. I'll be playing as hard... I don't know who the other celebrity contestants are, but if I were them, I wouldn't want to face me."

Meanwhile, Keshia planned to be nice, kind and cook for her houseguests. And Marissa believed no one would view her as a threat because she's the "cute, chubby" girl, but she pays attention to what's going on around her.

As for Omarosa, she bragged to Big Brother viewers, "I'm exceptional in everything that I do and everything I aspire to do. I was the queen of the boardroom and now I'll be queen of the Big Brother house. The celebrities better watch their backs."

Shannon, Keshia, James, Marissa, Chuck and Omarosa then got to move into the Big Brother house.

No one knew that Marissa and Shannon were close friends, so they planned to sneak around together and use that to their advantage.

During the first day, everyone was really nice to each other, but everyone knew when it became time to play, they'd stab each other in the back.

However, it didn't take long for James to annoy Brandi, and she in turn, wasn't very nice to him. James felt that Brandi asked him questions and then just shut him down, and he complained in the Diary Room about how she was probably drunk already.

James called Brandi "abrasive" and planned to go after her if he ended up winning Head of Household. James confided this information in Mark, but Mark told James not to let former The Real Housewives star get to him.

Shannon had a moment of bonding with Omarosa, so the actress decided to tell her that she's friends with Marissa and the three of them could work together. Omarosa got a good vibe from Shannon and was totally onboard.

"Am I teaming up with Omarosa!? This is insane," Marissa said. "But I'd rather be working with her than have her against me."

The girls then decided they should form an all-female alliance and target the guys one by one. Shannon, Marissa and Omarosa therefore recruited Brandi, Keshia and Ari for their alliance as well.

The 11 celebrities then gathered in the backyard for Celebrity Big Brother's first Head of Household Competition.

But first, Julie explained each houseguest must choose a star to stand on at random, and one of those stars would grant a celebrity immunity this week, meaning he or she would also not have to participate in the competition.

Julie described the power as the "sexiest celebrity not appearing on the block this week," and that person was Omarosa.

For the HoH Competition dubbed "Award Squeezin,'" each houseguest had to wrap his or her arms around a giant award and hold on for deal life while they were in the air. The players were sprayed with water and silver glitter along the way, and the last person holding on to his or her trophy would win Head of Household.

As the celebrities competed, Paul Abrahamian and Reilly sang and danced in a giant opening number. Chuck found the singing so annoying that he was about to drop out of the competition intentionally. Jessica Graf and Cody Nickson were also shown sitting in the audience.

Marissa was the first houseguest out of the challenge, and she was then followed by Metta World Peace, Mark, and then Ross after 15 minutes. Chuck then dropped three minutes later.

James was the last man standing in the competition, and after 20 minutes, Ari dropped, followed by Keshia and then Brandi.

"Maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't have had a bottle and a half of champagne before the competition," James S.id of Brandi.

Chuck was hoping James would win the competition so the men would have the numbers, but James was hurting. After failing to make a deal with Shannon for safety -- thanks to Omarosa interjecting and blowing up the singer's spot -- James fell. It also didn't help his trophy started spinning quickly.

Shannon proved to be a threat by winning Head of Household.

"Sorry men, this is a season of the women, and we're coming for you," Shannon noted in the Diary Room.

Omarosa was looking forward to an all-female Final 2 or 3, and Jason realized he needed to find some way into a girls' alliance or else he'd have no shot to stay.

The episode concluded with each celebrity receiving a gift bag. Some bags contained contents of "the latest Big Brother swag," while others contained a new power to recast the HoH. A person with the power could choose to take over Shannon's throne for the week, and James wanted it.
