The Dog Whisperer star admitted that after his beloved 16-year-old pit bull Daddy passed away and then his wife of 16 years Ilusion Millan had filed for divorce all within the year 2010, he attempted suicide by overdosing on pills, People reported Friday.

"I was at the lowest level I had ever been emotionally and psychologically," Cesar wrote on his blog in August, according to People.

Cesar had to deal with the loss of Daddy, whom he reportedly told The Associated Press was his "source of calmness," in February 2010 only to have Ilusion leave him four months later in June.

The 43-year-old reality TV star and professional dog trainer will open up about this difficult time in his life during Cesar Millan: The Real Story, a documentary that will air on Nat Geo Wild on November 25, People reported.

Cesar allegedly began improving his mental state when he became more focused on work and exercise. His situation became even better when he met Jahira Dar, a woman whom Cesar reportedly refers to as "the one" and intends to marry in the near future.

"I am a traditional guy, so I like to do the whole parent thing," Cesar said of proposing to his girlfriend, according to People. "I know they are going to say yes, but I like the whole Cinderella story."
