Charity Lawson has revealed how she felt about the fact Dotun Olubeko had no idea that fans of the show expect The Bachelorette to end in an engagement for its leading lady.

"So I didn't really understand what happens at the end of all this -- up until probably three or four weeks ago," he continued. "I asked one of the guys, 'What happens?' And they're like, 'It's an engagement.' And maybe for a millisecond, I was taken aback."

Charity, however, didn't find Dotun's confession to be a red flag, and she told Entertainment Weekly that it didn't make her question the bachelor or worry about their future together.
"The moment Dotun shared that information with me, no part of me was nervous or hesitant that he didn't know or understand that," Charity shared.
"It showed his innocence in all of this, and for me, that translated well."
On the show, Charity was shown reassuring Dotun, "It's okay, it's okay," and she noted how it seemed Dotun was really trusting the process.
And based on her interview with EW, Charity was truly okay with Dotun's lack of knowledge about the show and her expectations for how it should end.
"I was immediately thinking there are no outside pressures, he is truly here on his own accord for me," Charity explained.
"He really just expressed to me how he got to the understanding of an engagement and what that meant for him. He definitely thought that the show ended with two people just being in love and going on about their lives."
The Bachelorette star concluded, "It really was a really beautiful and wholesome conversation."
Charity and Dotun had this conversation on the beach before the dinner portion of their evening.

Although Dotun was "taken aback" by the idea of an engagement at first, he shared with Charity, "But then I thought about you, and I was like, 'I'm actually fine with that.' So I don't know, that's just a testament."
And Charity responded, "That's a testament to truly trusting the process because you don't even know what the hell happens at the end of it but you're just here and you're being yourself and seeing if it could work! And that does excite me in a sense."

Dotun said he'd be happy to be in that position and have that type of ending.
"To me, it almost feels more real," Dotun said.
"Yeah! It feels so real," Charity agreed. "It's an absolute fairy tale, like, truly."
Charity then gushed to the cameras how everything with Dotun up to that point had been "exceptional" and "exceeded" her expectations.
"What we are creating and writing is the most beautiful love story," Charity told the cameras. "My gut has been wrong in the past, but I'm hopeful with Dotun, that's not the case."

Dotun didn't know how The Bachelorette worked or how it's supposed to end because he wasn't exactly a fan of The Bachelor franchise before competing on it. In fact, he never even applied to be on the show.
Dotun said during a recent appearance on the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast that he believes "fate" led him to Charity on The Bachelorette this season.
"Honestly, I got on [The Bachelorette] only two weeks before filming started," Dotun revealed to the podcast's co-hosts, Bachelor in Paradise spouses Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt.
"It was a really short time period, apparently one of the shortest, I've been told. It was just happenstance where someone dropped out and someone thought of me to fill that role."

Dotun said one of Charity's original bachelors -- who had been nominated for the show -- dropped out for work or for personal reasons, and so his roommate thought Dotun would make a great replacement. (Dotun's roommate apparently has a connection with The Bachelorette's production or casting department).
But Dotun said he was pretty "certain" he wasn't going to join the cast because of how quickly things were moving.
"And financially -- for work and my career -- it just felt like it wasn't the right timing," Dotun shared.
"But once I saw Charity at The Women Tell All, I was like, 'Okay, I think something is telling me to go.'"
Dotun said that watching Charity on the Tell All for Zach Shallcross' The Bachelor season was the "deciding factor" for him.
"It felt like my soul was speaking, like, 'Hey, you should go for this,'" he revealed.
Dotun said while he's a logical person, there is a side of him that "believes in fate and bigger things."

In addition to Dotun, Joey Graziadei is also still in the running for Charity's heart. And The Bachelorette fans have yet to find out if Charity welcomes Aaron Bryant back and gives him another chance.
The Bachelorette finale is set to air as a special three-hour episode on Monday, August 21 on ABC.
