Christian Hubicki was eliminated from Survivor: David vs. Goliath during Wednesday night's Survivor Season 37 episode on CBS.

Christian, a 32-year-old robotics scientist from Baltimore, MD, who currently resides in Tallahassee, FL, was voted out on Night 35 through a 3-2-2 vote at Tribal Council. He became the fourteenth castaway to leave the game and Survivor: David vs. Goliath's seventh jury member.

The castaways who received two votes apiece were Alison Raybould, a 28-year-old physician from Leawood, KS, who currently resides in Chapel Hill, NC, and Davie Rickenbacker, a 30-year-old social media manager from Orangeburg, SC, who currently resides in Atlanta, GA.

Davie and Nick Wilson, a 27-year-old public defender from Williamsburg, KY, who currently resides in London, KY, both played hidden Immunity Idols for themselves, but the idols were clearly wasted.

"It surprised me that people thought I was such a huge threat that I needed to go as soon as they could marshal the votes. Eighteen votes, if I can count. That's an accomplishment!" Christian said in his final words.

"It makes me feel big. It makes me feel formidable, like, a person who has earned the respect of his colleagues. So, maybe I should respect myself more as a consequence."

During an exclusive interview with Reality TV World on Thursday, Christian talked about his Survivor experience. Below is the first portion of what he had to say.

Reality TV World: The editing of last night's broadcast showed so many possibilities -- from Nick being the vote to Davie to Alison to you. Could you clarify for me, walking into Tribal Council, what did you anticipate was going to happen? And is it safe to say you were blindsided?

Christian Hubicki: Certainly. Well, yeah, I did not expect to go home that night. The votes went down in a way that I didn't expect, so therefore, I was blindsided. I expected Alison to be the target and it was just, sort of, out of necessity.

And it really did feel as crazy as it looked in the episode! The target kept bouncing around and who it could be. And I knew about Davie's Final 7 idol, and so I was like, "Well, Davie is definitely not going home. He's going to play that."

I figured Nick would play whatever I thought was an idol, and clearly he played something, and it was an idol. And so he was going to be immune. So the targets kept changing and people were being taken off the board.

It was crazy, and I think Alison was really the only palatable target left other than me, and I thought I had marshaled the votes for that. I didn't feel great about it, but what choice did I have? And ultimately, my number came up instead.

Reality TV World: So it sounds like Davie never told you that the idol Nick had found in the raft was a fake one?

Christian Hubicki: Right, Davie told me about his idol but he did not tell me about Nick's fake idol. That's correct. I just assumed he had an idol anyway.

I think that the important effect of that fake idol play is I thought that the idol had been found, and that was a very clever and well-executed move by Nick, and I commend him for it.

Reality TV World: When Nick found that idol in the raft, Davie seemed to be the only person skeptical of its power initially. Where did you stand? Were you totally convinced it was real?

Christian Hubicki: Well Davie already had the information that Nick already had an idol and therefore had the clue that he could place in that wrapper for the idol. So he had more puzzle pieces to put together the fact that this was a fake thing. 

Now, I was also suspicious going into it. I think what happened initially is that Nick tried to get me to find the idol, the fake idol, so I would think I had one. So right after Tribal Council, he pulled me over and said, "Hey Christian, let's go look for the idol. Maybe it's over by the raft."

He said, "Maybe it's under the raft just like it was on Season 35."

And I said, "Well, Nick, maybe that's a good idea, but you know, on Season 35, the only reason it was hidden under the raft -- or the only reason they knew it -- was because there was a marking painted on the raft. There was paint and [Ben Driebergen] saw that and knew to dig. It wasn't just under the raft."

And he was like, "Well, let's go look anyways! Let's go look anyways!" And I was like, "Ugh."

So we go looking for it and I actually probably touched the dang thing, the idol he had put there. But I had no reason to believe [Jeff Probst] would put the idol underneath that raft.

And then when Nick came back with a bunch of us and found it, I was like, "Oh wow!" I believed it. And I didn't know he had a real note to put in there as well. So it really was an effective trick, so excellent move on him. It was really well executed. I commend him for it.

Reality TV World: Davie seemed to always have your back in the game, especially when he told you about Gabby Pascuzzi's attempt to take you out. After Davie found his new idol, did you talk about him potentially using it on you instead of himself?

Christian Hubicki: So Davie did tell me about the new idol he had found and I knew that Davie was a potential target at that vote, so if anything, it made sense for Davie to play it on himself and maybe have it ricochet back on somebody else.

I never asked him to play it on me. That would've been a ballsy move, to ask him to play it again on me, especially considering if he had, he would've gone home. Could you imagine that effect, playing it on someone else and then you go home dead?!

And, you know, sometimes you have to do what you have to do on Survivor to win. I'm kind of glad that I never had to make that call, and instead, I was taken out by surprise.

Reality TV World: Mike White obviously spearheaded your vote-off, and he worked very hard to make it happen. So could you explain his vote for Davie? And what was your reaction when you discovered Mike was the guy behind your ouster?

Christian Hubicki: His vote for Davie was originally a split-vote plan. I think the word of Davie's idol had gotten back to those guys and they didn't want to risk Davie, yet again, playing it on me and then throw all of the votes on me. So they threw a couple of votes on Davie. That's just what makes sense from my standpoint.

And in terms of whether I was surprised that Mike came after me, he [stepped it up]. I always thought for a while that Mike was being underestimated. It's really why I kind of tried to work with Mike!

Even though I know he voted for me twice, after Dan went home and the Goliaths had flipped on themselves, the game was open again and Mike needed someone to go to.

And I approached him. I said, "Mike, I never lied to you in this game. I would love to work with you and go with you deep. I love talking to you and I think we have very similar views on life."

And this was his idea by the way -- it was brilliant: He said, "Let's meet in the middle of the night where no one can see us. No one can see this coming."

So sure enough, in the middle of the night, I would tap him on the shoulder when he would be sleeping in the hammock and we would go out to the beach and we would talk 80 percent about life and 20 percent about strategy.

So it's only now in hindsight I'm like, "Wow, that was a long time he was pulling this off." He wanted to make me feel like I was comfortable with him, but he made a move that, in his estimation, got rid of -- in his words -- the person that was most likely to win.

That was his estimation. And in doing so, it showed he's not just this rich guy who wants to be there on Survivor for as long as he can so he can have some fun experience he otherwise couldn't have. He's playing, and he's playing to win!
