Former "The Voice" coach Christina Aguilera says she didn't quit the show because of Gwen Stefani.
"No, it never had anything to do with any one person at all," Aguilera told the magazine. "And I actually think it's really cute Blake and Gwen found love in that chaotic environment."
"I fought for a long time to get two females in the chairs," she said of the show's four coaching positions.
"And for a long time, I was just told it wasn't the demographic. But just know that I was a fighter behind the scenes."
Aguilera explained she left "The Voice" after six seasons as coach because she came to see the show as a "hamster wheel.""It wasn't a comfortable place for me to be, where I'm just part of a money-making machine. When I stop believing in something, then it's like, What am I doing here?" the star said.
"I think I did choose to, no pun intended, take a chair for so long and so something very commercial for my little ones," she said of her kids.
Aguilera had shared similar sentiments about "The Voice" in the May 5 issue of Billboard.
"It became something that I didn't feel was what I had signed up for in Season 1," she said. "You realize it's not about music. It's about making good TV moments and massaging a story."
Aguilera is focused instead on her eighth studio album, Liberation, which debuts June 15.
She released the single "Fall in Line" featuring Demi Lovato from the album Wednesday.
