Aiken returns to the stage where he went head to head with last season's American Idol winner, Ruben Studdard, when 38 million viewers tuned in to watch the most dramatic results show ever. Since that record-breaking finale, Aiken, who is signed with RCA, has received an American Music Awards nomination for Best New Artist and won the Fan Choice Award. He is currently on tour with Kelly Clarkson, the first American Idol winner.

On Tuesday, March 16 the Top 12 finalists will square off for the first time in a two-hour special live performance for America (8-10PM ET/PT). The finalists will be singing soul classics, in hopes of winning America's vote. The following night, the person with the fewest votes will be eliminated on the live results show on Wednesday, March 17 (8:30-9:30 PM ET/PT).

American Idol ranks as the No. 1 program of the season among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers.

Five-time Emmy Award-nominee American Idol was created by Simon Fuller of 19TV and developed by FremantleMedia. Executive producers are Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe for 19TV and Cecile Frot-Coutaz and Ken Warwick for FremantleMedia North America.
