"Partnering with CMT is a strategic move by Reveille and NBC to create a brand affiliation for Nashville Star with the biggest television outlet for country music," said Reveille managing director and Nashville Star executive producer Howard T. Owens. "To repurpose on CMT was the only natural distribution fit."
NBC plucked Nashville Star from its sister network USA -- which aired the first five seasons of the reality competition series -- in January.
The series will be hosted by former Dancing with the Stars fourth-season celebrity participant Billy Ray Cyrus with country music artist John Rich, fifth-season host Jewel and producer Jeffrey Steele serving as sixth-season judges and mentors.
"With CMT favorites like Billy Ray Cyrus, John Rich and Jewel, this show is a natural fit for our audience," said CMT programming executive Mary Beth Cunin. "Nashville Star was one of the first music competition series to recognize that the country music genre holds mass appeal, and we're thrilled to partner with NBC on the series first broadcast run."
Nashville Star's sixth-season winner will receive a recording contract and management deal with Warner Brothers and AEG Live; a North American tour; a performance at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, which will commence August 8 and be broadcast on NBC; and a Toyota Tundra.
Nashville Star was created by Reveille and is produced by 495 Productions. Ben Silverman, Owens, Mark Koops and Sallyann Salsano serve as executive producers.
