Colton Underwood admits it's difficult to stay in shape when appearing on Bachelor in Paradise.

"We tried," Colton, 26, told Us Weekly about his beach workout. "I gained 12 pounds during filming. Chips and guacamole straight to the hips."
Colton confessed his time in Paradise was like a lengthy vacation and there wasn't much motivation to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
"It's a big bro-session with the guys. For the girls too, a lot of hanging out and having fun," the former professional football player explained.
"We're eating a lot of chips and a lot of guacamole and a lot of jicama. We got our tan on, we got after the chicken tacos. It was a lot of fun."
Although the vibe in Mexico was "different" than his experience on The Bachelorette, Colton wouldn't exactly call it "relaxed."
"You see everybody building connections and you're trying to build your own connections and just sort of, subconsciously, you want to keep up with the strongest couple there," Colton said.

"What I learned is that everyone has their own tempo, everyone has their own pace. There shouldn't be pressure in relationships."
Colton was open and vulnerable when he came to Paradise, realizing and admitting that he wasn't quite over his breakup with The Bachelorette star Becca Kufrin yet.
However, when Becca paid her girlfriends a visit in Mexico on Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise, she also gave Colton the closure he needed to have hope and resume his search for love.

"For the longest time, I really hid. I was ashamed of the man I was. I think right now, they're starting to see the real Colton for who he is, it's been awesome. My family and friends have been super supportive through all this and it's been great, just opening up about who I am."
Bachelor in Paradise's fifth season currently airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
