The two couples topped the leaderboard after they received 39.5 out of 40 possible points from Dancing with the Stars' new scoring system, which features 0.5 intervals for the first time in the show's history, for their dances from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli and guest judge Paula Abdul. Both pairs earned the highest score of the All-Stars edition yet to date.
The celebrity and professional pairings were all required to battle it out with dances the all-stars had picked for each other last week. Some of the styles of dance have never been featured on Dancing with the Stars before, and a couple of the choreographers even had to seek expert help for their routines. In addition, lifts were allowed.
Johnson and Hough performed the mambo, while Marini and Murgatroyd danced a Bollywood routine. Johnson won Dancing with the Stars' eighth season with Mark Ballas in 2009. Marini was previously paired with Cheryl Burke for Dancing with the Stars' eighth season in 2009 which he had finished in second place.
Actress Kirstie Alley and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who was also partnered with Alley when she finished as the runner-up during Dancing with the Stars' twelfth season last year, finished in ninth -- and last -- place at the bottom of the leaderboard after they performed a Charleston routine which received only 30 points from the judges.
Soap star Kelly Monaco and partner Val Chmerkovskiy landed in third place on Monday night's leaderboard following their contemporary routine which received 37.5 points from the judges. Monaco won Dancing with the Stars' inaugural season in 2005 with partner Alec Mazo.
Fourth place on the judges' leaderboard went to reality TV star Melissa Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani, who was also partnered with Rycroft when she won Dancing with the Stars' eighth season in 2009, after they earned 37 points for their Jitterbug dance routine from the judges.
NFL football star Emmitt Smith and partner Burke, who was also partnered with Smith when he won Dancing with the Stars' third season in 2006, finished in fifth place on the leaderboard after they received 36 points for their Bolero performance.
Singer and former Disney Channel star Sabrina Bryan -- who was allowed to enter the competition after winning the "Viewers' Choice: All-Star" vote in August -- and partner Louis van Amstel claimed sixth place on Monday night's judging leaderboard with 35.5 points. They danced a disco performance.
Bryan originally competed with Ballas her first time around on Dancing with the Stars' fifth season in Fall 2007. The pair had finished in seventh place after what was considered unexpectedly early elimination.
Seventh place on the leaderboard went to Olympic gold medalist speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, who won Dancing with the Stars' fourth season with Julianne Hough in 2007. He performed a hip-hop routine with partner Karina Smirnoff.
Reality TV star Bristol Palin and partner Ballas, who was also partnered with Palin when she finished third on Dancing with the Stars' eleventh season in 2010, finished in eighth place. The couple danced a Rock N' Roll routine that earned 32 points from the show's judges, which marked the pair's best score of the season thus far.
