Brandy Norwood and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are still surprised they were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday night after regularly finishing at the top of the judges' leaderboard during the season's performance shows.

"Well, yeah," Chmerkovskiy replied when asked if their ouster had been a shock after exchanging a knowing glance with Norwood during a Wednesday morning appearance on Good Morning America.

"Yeah," Norwood added.

"A little," Chmerkovskiy said.

"A lot!" Norwood emphasized.

Later in the interview, Chmerkovskiy also appeared to voice his frustration that he and Norwood were eliminated instead of Bristol Palin -- whom home voters advanced to the season's finale even though she has finished last on the judges' leaderboard each of the last three weeks.

"It is what it is. People vote and that's the beauty of the show but it's also a downer a little bit. I think I'm just not a very good Dancing with the Stars professional [because] I'm a trained ballroom dancer trained with the idea of [being] a racer [where] you come across the finish line first, you win," Chmerkovskiy said.

"In this case, you cross the finish line first [and] somebody [else] barely finishes [but] then you get a tie because they showed 'heart.' It's kind of difficult for me to deal with."

However, Chmerkovskiy said he appreciates the value of having active viewers watch Dancing with the Stars and believes that many great dancers have graced its stage this season.

"I think everyone deserves to be in the finals but if we're going to be honest, I think [Audrina Patridge] deserves to be in the finals with [Tony Dovolani]," Chmerkovskiy replied when asked if Palin deserves to make the competition's finale.

"And I think Rick Fox deserves to be in the finals -- I think Florence Henderson of all of us deserves to be in the finals. She is the oldest and she's done phenomenal -- at her age, I wouldn't be able to move like that -- so it's a matter of opinion, and I'm glad that there's a show on TV that allows people to express their opinion."

In addition, Chmerkovskiy suggested the show's background packages may not presenting accurate portrayals of some of the season's remaining contestants.

"My only concern is that when choosing somebody as a champion, when you pick up the phone and vote, and you do it based on what you see on TV -- because they touched you and they warmed your heart with a package -- just remember that the package is a very glimpse at a highly produced moment," Chmerkovskiy stated.

"So you may not know the person personally, and so base your opinion on who to vote for on that is not really the right thing to do."
