Dancing with the Stars contestant Michael Sam has apparently offended a bisexual NFL player with his outspoken opinion.

The NFL player, who does not want to be identified by name, told TMZ he was offended when Sam said other gay professional football players are less courageous because they are not open about their sexuality.

The player reportedly said he's been in the league for a few seasons and came out to his close friends. He was most upset about Sam's following statement: "I respect the players that did reach out to me and had the courage to tell me that they were also gay, but they do not have the same courage as I do to come out before I even played a down in the NFL."

"As a bisexual man," the unidentified athlete told TMZ in response, "I just feel like Michael Sam does not speak for all gay men. He has his own opinion... but don't say that we don't have the courage to come out. It's totally wrong. Just speak for yourself. No one else."

The NFL player continued to bash Sam by saying it's no one's business what his sexuality happens to be.

"You should like me for me... not for who I choose to be with," he noted. "I feel the NFL isn't ready for people to be open about it or the General Managers for that matter."

The offended football player added that Sam was treated fairly when he tried to make it on an NFL team -- he just didn't perform well.

Sam is at least performing well on the twentieth season of Dancing with the Stars with his pro partner Peta Murgatroyd. The couple has managed to land in the middle of the pack on the judges' leaderboard two weeks in a row.
