Dancing with the Stars eliminated Andy Grammer and his professional partner Allison Holker during Monday night's broadcast of the series' 21st season on ABC.

The crooner and Allison became the seventh couple eliminated from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores and home viewer votes they had received during last week's performance show.

"It's actually kind of fitting that I would leave tonight after getting to honor [my mom] through dance," Andy said following his ouster.

"I never thought I would ever say those words, but it's been a really sweet process to help me kind of grieve through it. [Allison] has been amazing and I made some awesome friends out of this. [The judges] all have been very lovely to me and I'm going out on a handspring which is kind of badass."

Big Time Rush singer Carlos PenaVega and partner Witney Carson were the other couple in jeopardy of elimination prior to Andy and Allison's elimination in this eighth week of competition. However, Carlos and Witney were not necessarily one of the bottom-two couples based on the judges' scores and America's votes.

Monday night's DWTS episode featured each couple performing an individual routine in honor of the people who inspire them for judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli.

The celebrity and professional pairings then had to participate in The Dance-Off, which required two couples to square off at a time in a dance style they couldn't really prepare for ahead of time. America's real-time voting results helped determine each faceoff's winner along with the judges.

However, the couple who received the highest score in the first round of competition earned immunity from elimination at the end of the broadcast, three extra points on their score and the ability to sit out of the stressful Dance-Off. 

Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter and partner Sharna Burgess topped the leaderboard in first place with 33 total points. They received immunity after racking in a perfect score of 30 points from the judges for their contemporary routine. Nick and Sharna automatically earned an additional three points since they did not have to compete in The Dance-Off.

Second place on Monday night's judging leaderboard went to Carlos and Witney, who achieved a total of 29 points after receiving 27 points from the judges for their individual salsa routine and then winning their Dance-Off worth two extra points.

Carlos and Witney beat Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, and partner Derek Hough in The Dance-Off during which both pairs performed the jive. The three judges unanimously voted Carlos and Witney the winner although 64% of home viewers determined they liked Bindi and Derek's dance better.

Bindi and Derek tied for third place on the leaderboard with Tamar Braxton, a singer, talk show host and sister of Toni Braxton, and partner Val Chmerkovskiy. Both couples earned 28 total points considering they lost their respective Dance-Offs. Bindi and Derek danced the foxtrot, while Tamar and Val took the stage with a paso doble routine.

Tamar and Val lost their cha cha Dance-Off to Spy Kids star Alexa PenaVega and partner Mark Ballas. Carrie Ann voted for Alexa and Mark, but Julianne and Bruno agreed Tamar and Val should've won. The determining factor came down to 76% of America voting for Alexa and Mark to win.

Alexa and Mark therefore received two bonus points to add onto their first-round score of 25 points, which they earned for their initial Argentine tango routine. The couple landed in fifth place on the judges' leaderboard with a total of 27 points.

Sixth place on the leaderboard went to train hero Alek Skarlatos and partner Lindsay Arnold, who received 25 points for their individual contemporary routine. Alek and Lindsay lost their Dance-Off to Andy and Allison.

Andy and Allison ended the night with 24 total points, which included the two extra points they earned for winning the Dance-Off. After performing a 22 point-worthy Viennese waltz, the judges unanimously voted for Andy and Allison to win their Dance-Off. Home viewers also decided Andy and Allison deserved to beat Alek and Lindsay with 54% of the vote.

The votes and judges' scores from last night's show will result in another couple's elimination next week.
