Dancing with the Stars eliminated retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner and professional partner Anna Trebunskaya during Tuesday night's eighth live eleventh-season results show on ABC.

Warner and Trebunskaya were ousted from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they received during Monday night's performance show and the home viewer votes that were cast afterwards.

"I learned a long time ago that life isn't always about winning and losing competitions but it's about relationships.  It's about impacting people and  so I thank everybody at Dancing with the Stars because it gave me an opportunity to impact people and build relationships and that's really what it's all about," Warner said after his elimination.

"I've got to say a special thanks to my wife, and to my seven wonderful kids at home -- a lot of support, they make it all worth while.  And of course  thank this wonderful woman here (Anna) that allowed me to do something that nobody really expected me to do, so I appreciate that.  And everybody out there -- I love you guys, I appreciate it, thank you so much!"

Warner and Trebunskaya had finished in fourth place on Monday night's judging leaderboard after they received 48 out of 60 possible points from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli during Monday night's show.

In addition to dancing one routine to their own choice of music, Monday's show had also featured the competition's five remaining couples performing a second "instant" dance for which they only learned the music selection for their previously rehearsed routine 20 minutes before performing it.

Each dance was eligible to receive up to 30 possible points from the judges, however the "instant" dance challenge was a special format never previously used in Dancing with the Stars' eleven-season history.

Singer Brandy Norwood and professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the other couple still in danger of elimination prior to Warner and Trebunskaya's ouster, however Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron noted they were not necessarily the other couple in the bottom two based on the combination of the judges' scoring and home viewer votes.

Given Norwood and Chmerkovskiy had finished tied for place on Monday night's judging leaderboard, there hadn't been much suspense prior to Bergeron's announcement of Warner and Trebunskaya's elimination.

"The competition -- and us, I can speak for all of us -- will lose a real gentleman," Tonioli said when asked what the show would lose if Warner was ousted.  "He as proven a true sportsman.  His attitude has been immaculate.  Incredible manners.  And regardless of what happens, you have achieved a lot and showed us how to behave.  You really are an American idol."

"Nice plug for the other network," Bergeron quipped.

Norwood and Chmerkovskiy had finished tied with actress Jennifer Grey and professional partner Derek Hough for first place on the judges' leaderboard with 57 out of 60 possible points.

Grey and Hough had received 27 points for their quickstep and a perfect 30 points for their "instant" rumba -- the eleventh season's first perfect score -- while Norwood and Chmerkovskiy had earned 29 points for their waltz routine and 28 points for their "instant" cha cha. 

Disney Channel star Kyle Massey and partner Lacey Schwimmer had finished in third place with a total of 56 points on the judges' leaderboard after receiving 27 points for their Viennese Waltz and 29 points for their "instant" jive routine.

Teen mom Bristol Palin and partner Mark Ballas had finished in last place with 47 points after they earned 24 points for their Argentine tango performance and only 23 points from the judges for their "instant" samba.
