The NBA basketball player and Murgatroyd became the first couple ousted from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they had received during Monday night's performance show and the home viewer votes that were cast afterwards.

"All I wanna know is who's coming with me!? Who's coming with me!? Who's coming?" Artest joked following his elimination.

"Peta was great. Peta was great. Everybody give a round of applause for Peta. She was awesome -- awesome. I want to say thank you. Thanks to ABC, Dancing with the Stars. Thanks to Peta, she was awesome. I had a great, great time. I had a great time; It was awesome."

Artest and Murgatroyd had finished in twelfth and last place on Monday night's judging leaderboard after they danced a cha cha routine that received only 14 out of 30 possible points from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

Legal commentator Nancy Grace and partner Tristan MacManus were the other couple still in danger of elimination prior to Artest and Murgatroyd's ouster, however Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron noted they were not necessarily the other couple in the bottom two based on the combination of the judges' scoring and home viewer votes from Monday night's performance show.

Grace and MacManus had finished in an eighth-place tie on the judges' leaderboard alongside Keeping Up with the Kardashians sibling Rob Kardashian and partner Cheryl Burke. Grace and MacManus performed a cha cha which received 16 points from the judges, while Kardashian and Burke danced a Viennese waltz which earned them 16 points.

Iraqi war veteran and All My Children soap star J.R. Martinez and partner Karina Smirnoff and singer and actress Chynna Phillips and partner Tony Dovolani had topped the judges' leaderboard and finished tied for first place after they received 22 points for their Viennese waltz routines.

American women's soccer star Hope Solo had finished one point behind them in third place with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy after they earned 21 points for their Viennese waltz performance.

Former talk show host Ricki Lake and partner Derek Hough had finished in fourth place on the judges' Monday night leaderboard with 20 points after they performed a Viennese waltz.

Sixth place went to actor David Arquette and partner Kym Johnson after they received 18 points from the judges for their Viennese waltz.

Fashion expert and former Queer Eye star Carson Kressley and partner Anna Trebunskaya and transgender advocate Chaz Bono and partner Lacey Schwimmer finished tied for seventh place on the judges' leaderboard. Both couples performed cha cha routines which received 17 points from the judges.

Model and George Clooney's ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis and partner Val Chmerkovskiy had finished in eleventh place with 15 points -- only one point higher than Artest and Murgatroyd's judges' score -- after they danced a cha cha.
